This is a California Barn find that has been caught in a time warp and is in amazing condition for a nearly 50 year old German sedan The 108 bodied Mercedes is a classic and timeless design for all ages. The is the last of the truly hand-built S-Class Mercedes sedans. This Classic Mercedes Benz looks beautiful moving or standing still. The average person won't know if it is a $5,000 car or $50,000 car, One thing for sure is everybody knows that it is a classic Mercedes Benz This has been a senior owned California classic Mercedes, that resided in the small town or Corralitos near Monterey, CA. It is a solid example of a well kept 46 year old car, however it is not a brand new car. The car is an un-restored original 1966 Mercedes Benz, inside and out this Benz classic patina is absolutely gorgeous. This classic car was owned by an elder couple who drove it very little, shown by the overall condition . It is a strong running and driving car that has been maintained regularly throughout it's life. This particular 250s has been well equipped with options like full leather seats, Air conditioning, and a shortwave radio. For an almost 50 year old car the condition is a testament to the very high quality standards these cars are built by. Cosmetically this Mercedes Benz is a great shape for it's age. The body is a classic 1960's color "HellBlau" that looks great. For the most part the paint is in great shape for it's age, there are a few very small age nicks here and there. The body is straight and doesn't have any major dings or dents. Understand you are buying a 1966 Year model it is not a brand new car but a clean survivor. The chrome shines nicely and is all straight and rust free, the back left trim piece on the light has a small dent and the clip has been replaced with a screw instead of a clip. The windshield has a minor scratch from the wiper blade that can be fixed easily with filler. Overall the exterior has a beautiful original patina for a 46 year old classic car. The interior of this car is a nice condition for it's age. It is a well optioned 250s, including the beautiful Bamboo leather which in great shape. It does show some age wear but very nice for being 46 year old. The dash is finished with wood trim a rare find for a 1966 car. Unlike cars of today this wood is actually wood, it shows some age wear with clear coat cracking but can be brought back to it's original shine with new coat of varnish. The drivers side piece on the upper window is missing. Another rare option is the Blaupunkt short wave radio which works on and off. It is also equipped with Air conditioning but the belt is currently off and will need a new A/C belt to work properly. The white Mercedes steering wheel looks absolutely stunning with the wood trim bamboo leather interior. The floor mats are upgraded S class high quality floor mats the original carpeting has some color loss in areas. Overall the interior is in decent shape for it's age. Mechanically this Mercedes is a solid running and driving car. It has been hardly used and sitting for a good portion of it's life. The engine seems to run strong, the engine the fan belt sometimes makes noise when cold but other than that the engine does not have any serious pings or knocks just a strong running 46 year old Mercedes 6 cylinder. The 4 speed transmission shifts into all gears like a typical classic Mercedes, reverse is fully functional as well. The brakes stop fine and do not make any noises or have any hesitation. All the lights work. The four wheel independent suspension rides like a cloud. The undercarriage has been freshly coated to protect the underside from the elements. I have posted photos of before and after of the undercoating . This is a very solid example in very nice condition of a 46 year old automobile it is however in no way a brand new car It fires up and runs and drives well. I drove the car from Montery to Oakland in mostly bumper to bumper traffic for nearly 100 miles with no problems. It was owned by an old couple who drove it very few miles and kept very good condition of her. These are very high quality cars and they dont last this long if you dont maintain them. The engine seems to run strong, the fan belt makes a little noise when pushed but other than that a solid old 6 cylinder The 4 speed Automatic transmission shifts in all gears, the reverse works as do all the forward gears. It is a little lazy from 3rd to 4th at low speeds but shifts into 4th . I drove this car nearly 100 miles in stop and go commuter traffic in three different metro areas,Santa Cruz, San Jose and Oakland. She did not overheat. It shifts in all gears but is smoother to shift down manualy in traffic. It was a hot summer day with a lot of stop and go.
