Vehicle Detail
This handsome Briggs-bodied 1931 Ford Town Sedan merits your consideration if you are a Model A fan. This car has had TWO (2) OWNERS since new. The original owners purchased the car in 1931 and kept it until March, 1958 when they sold it to the second owner. The second owner had the car from 1958 until his passing in 2003. His widow kept the car in storage until recently when she decided it was time to sell. The second owner kept the car garaged during his entire period of ownership and used in very little during the 45 years he owned it. He did have the car repainted in the early 1960's in what is believed to be the original color. Otherwise, all that was done was routine maintenance. The paint still shines well and you would be proud to drive the car in a parade or display it at a local show. When you close the doors, they make that sound like a bank vault door closing. The other outstanding feature of this Model A is its originality. While the interior is frayed and worn in spots, we believe it is totally original with the exception of the front mat and the rear carpet. While I am not an expert on these cars, I am not aware of any modifications to the body or mechanics. The car has the windshield that slants out. The car runs and brakes well although it is advisable to "double clutch" it for smooth shifting of gears. The odometer and speedometer work and the car shows 75,721 original miles. In the file folder with the car is a county sales tax receipt showing the name and address of the original owners and the date of purchase by the second owner. There is also an affidavit signed by the second owner's wife detailing the purchase date; the fact that the seller related to them the fact of purchasing the car new in 1931; and the fact that she believes the mileage shown on the vehicle is the actual mileage. Keep in mind, she and her late husband had the car for a total of 54 years. From research, I believe this to be a very late production car, having been built in late July, 1931. We would like to see this vehicle go to a good home with an owner that will appreciate how well it has survived over the last 82 years. This Model A can be enjoyed as is or would be an easy restoration to whatever level the new owner desires. Personal or third-party inspections are welcomed and encouraged. Obviously, there are no warranties of any kind concerning a vehicle of this age. This car is in a heated and humidity-controlled environment and does not leave until funds have cleared. Title is clear. No trades will be considered. Seller reserves the right to end the auction at any time as there have been expressions of local interest.
