Vehicle Detail

Immaculate 1957 Oval window Bug. Cool, Drivable and Very Collectible. VIN: 1500736 3,000 Miles since Body- Off Restoration. Clean Title. Matching Pan and Body VINs. Color: Cranberry with tasteful pin striping. This Oval window Bug is as clean as any new car you will see on a showroom floor today. She has the coolness of an Oval window with semaphores along with the reliability of a 1641cc engine upgrade with 12 Volt electrics. You would pay in excess of $40,000 to restore an Oval window to this condition today. This Bug has absolutely no rust on it – anywhere. As it was restored 19 years ago and dry stored any rust would have bled through by now. I have purchased ‘no rust’ Bugs on e-bay and they have turned out to require major sheet metal repair. This car really does have no rust on the body or pan. Engine: 1641cc. 1641cc means reliability without overheating issues. This car was built to be very cool and reliable with excellent performance. Gene Berg Heads with 2mm Oversize Inlet and Exhaust Valves. Carburetors: 40mm Kadrons. These are reliable and easy to tune. Ported & Polished Intakes Distributor: Bosch 009. Camshaft: Engle 110. Header and Muffler: Berg with J-Tubes to replace heat exchangers. This is a summer or show car. It could be a very cool daily driver. Please note: This Bug does not have heating. It would be criminal to use this car in winter weather. Pushrods: Chrome Moly. Rocker Shafts: Berg (Solid.) Okrasa badge on Fan Shroud. Speedometer in Kilometers. Semaphore Turn Signals. (Working just fine). Alle electrical items working. Recaro tilting front seats for complete comfort over long distances. Locking Glove Box and Decklid all with keys. New wiring with conversion to 12 Volt. New BRM Rims, Tires as new. Interior totally refurbished with billet winder handles and one piece windows. New carpeting and headliner. Floor Pan sealed with rust preventative under carpet. Working Cool Original VDO clock in Dash. King and Linkpin Front Suspension entirely rebuilt. Brakes all renewed, stock with Braided Stainless Brake Hoses. Rebuilt Stock Swing Axle Trans. Genuine VW German Front and Rear Fenders. (You can tell by the drain holes and the front fenders curve out where they meet the running boards). Both front and rear of the Bug do not have any creases common to many Bugs due to front or rear end accidents in previous years. New Heavy Duty Floor Pans. Rear fenders and apron alingn correctly. German Running Boards. Cal style German weatherstipping. Billet Aluminum Mirrors and Gene Berg Shifter. Sports Steering Wheel with VW Logo. Custom roller pedal assembly. Zero Miles since oil change, tune up and new plugs at Motorworks Restorations in Colorado Springs. There is an antenna on this vehicle but no radio in the dash. Top quality cloth car cover included with Bug. Blue VW Instruction Manual also included. Shipped to the US by a soldier in 1957. Total Body off Restoration and tasteful custom by Jon Hanson in Madison Wisconsin in 1994 using all top quality parts. Since the restoration this car has driven less than 3,000 miles. This car has been featured in various VW magazines and has won many awards. It is in spectacularly good condition. However, like almost all used cars in the United States it does not come with any warranty. Shipping: You can find many shipping companies on the Internet. I have shipped cars overseas, so I am aware of the regulations and will have the car prepared for overseas shipping. For shipping quotes a Bug is 4070mm or 13ft 4” long and 1540mm or 5 ft 6” wide. Weight is 730Kg or 1,606 lbs. Shipping from Tennessee to Colorado costs $675 to $800 on an open truck, or around $1,200 to $1,400 in an enclosed vehicle. I believe shipping from Colorado to the west coast would be similar. This vehicle is for sale locally, so I reserve the right to withdraw it from e-bay. The Bug can be viewed in Colorado Springs at Motorworks Restorations in Colorado Springs. Tel: 719 648 2280. Ask for Jeremy. Good Luck Bidding.
