henryritter Store 1987 VOLKSWAGEN ANTIQUE CABRIOLET CONVERTIBLE 1987 VOLKSWAGEN ANTIQUE CABRIOLET CONVERTIBLE This is a nice antique Cabriolet at an inexpensive price. The body is good—for the first few years of this car’s life it lived in the dry climate of Arizona. I bought the car in Connecticut for my daughter, then in high school, in 1993. Since I have owned the car, it has been garaged so the body is nicely preserved. Sometime prior to 1993 it would appear that the car had been repainted. It still runs well, though it will not pass the Connecticut emissions test. The mileage shown on the odometer, 86,491, is not perfectly accurate. For the last 2,000 miles or so the odometer has only worked intermittently, so the car has slightly more miles on it than is shown on the odometer. Here are the major faults: the convertible top is likely to leak in a big rainstorm; the right front tire has a slow leak (though all tires have nice remaining tread); the odometer/speedometer works intermittently; there is some wear to the interior; the battery is weak and will need replacing; the radio needs to be reset. This is a nice car to use pretty much “as is” or to restore for a super example of its type. It is priced cheap to sell. It comes with the original owner’s manual.
