Seller's motivated!! Price reduced Built in 1949....looks like new! This 1949 Oldsmobile Rocket 88 with the boatail rear deck has that classic look and styling. In 1949 the Olds 88, was the first introduction of the Olds "Rocket 88 V8" engine and the first introduction of the Olds 88 "Hydro-Matic" transmission. Creating what was considered the predecessor of muscle cars of the 1960s. On this Restomod/Restorod, the Black Mat with Orange and Yellow Flame accent color combination and re-chromed trim give this Olds an absolutely breath taking look. Inside the matching yellow and black tuck and roll interior with orange trim adds the finishing touch. Period Coker wide whites on chrome rims roll this Olds down the road in style. This 88 has been mildly upgraded with a rebuilt Chevy 350 V8 mated to a Turbo-automatic transmission. The original Rocket 88 The Oldsmobile Rocket V8 was the first post-war OHV V8 at General Motors and mated Hydro-Matic transmission are available separately.(with shop original manual) It ran strong when replaced with the Chevy 350, but needed to be rebuilt and it was more economical to go with the Chevy 350. Olds continued building its own V8 engine family for decades, finally adopting the corporate Chevrolet 350 small-block and Cadillac Northstar engine only in the 1990s Odometer shows 18,000+/- miles, most likely more than that.
