Car lover, maintenance maniac, and amateur hypermiler has to sell his "ferrari bambino". You will not find a 2000 Insight in better condition. Ready to drive across country tomorrow without hesitation. Still the mileage champ. 61.8 MPG since resetting lifetime average about a year after I bought the car in 2006 (see picture of ODO). Got over 70 MPG about a dozen tankfuls (takes some mental effort and skill - challenging fun! - some hypermilers get 80, 90, 100+). History: Bought the car used in 2006 after giving up on finding a new Insight with a manual transmission in California (CVT is no fun and a slug). Bought from a MD in Rancho Pales Verdes, CA that had a garage with 6 cars (he was making room for a new Aston). Drove about a year and then had dash light up with errors. Dealer replaced the IMA power control modules, and Battery control modules. Both were upgrades, and done under warranty. Car was used mostly for trips only until moving to Florida in 2009 (see clear Florida title). New IMA batteries replaced under warranty in Jan. 2011 (see receipt). New 12-volt battery in Jan 2012 (see receipt). Always garaged by previous owner and myself. Maintenance: Besides the major items described above, this has been a trouble-free car and very dependable. I have changed the Honda genuine filter and Mobil 1 (0w-20 hybrid oil) religiously every 5000 miles (you would not believe how clean the oil looks). Regular washings, twice a year waxings with Meguires Carnuba. It shows. You will also not believe how clean the engine compartment is (see picture). Never pressure cleaned - just stays clean, and wipe with a damp towel every time I wash the vehicle. Cosmetics: Maniac will walk two blocks to avoid a situation where I could get a door ding. Not perfect, but close to it. No dents, and no deep scratches. Floor mats replaced with genuine Honda several years ago. Driver's side has soiled/wear under heels, but still lots of life left before worn through. Headliner has discoloration (glue?) just above and centered above hatch (previous owner). Only visible when hatch is open. (see picture). Rear bumper was re-painted after rear-ender to previous owner. I inspected under and behind thoroughly before buying and could not find any other damage. Panels align well. However, paint (on bumper only) was not a good match and can tell from rest of body if in the right light. This is still the biggest flaw on the car, and even anal-me could live with it. Rear view mirror has backing peeling off the back of the glass. I never notice it except when cleaning the mirror. Upholstery, seats, and all other interior do not have any serious cosmetic flaws - no rips, stains, or worn spots. (except headliner as mentioned above). Mechanical condition: Absolutely everything works (door locks, windows, every button, light, lever, etc. etc. etc.) Engine and trans work as well as when I first bought the car, and as good as a brand new one I wish I had bought. Needs nothing immediately. I suggest new tires before winter (buy the ones you want). Paypal deposit within 48 hours of sale. Remainder within a week or forfeit. You are welcome to inspect before or after sale. If you feel that I've misrepresented the vehicle in any way, I will refund the deposit. Buyer is responsible for pick-up or shipping. If you visit; Melbourne airport is closest, then Vero Beach, then Orlando. Send personal checks ahead of time for clearance. I can go with you to the nearest Chase or Wells Fargo for cash after you arrive. Buyer is responsible for pick-up or shipping.
