RELISTING DUE TO NON-PAYING BIDDER. Buyer claimed they didn't look at pictures well before purchasing. Claiming car was rusty and there was a hole in the floor. Photos contradict buyer's claim. We all know what happened here, buyer purchased this late at night, emailed me the next morning and claimed they didn't look at photos and refused to pay...I.E. They got in over their head or the wife said no. The photos of floors from underneath show rubber floor seals. These are not holes. Car is very clean as nearly 100 photos show. I apologize to those who were bidding and watching the previous listing. Thanks. 100% positive user here. You are bidding one one SERIES ONE, NUMBERS MATCHING, 1971 Datsun 240Z. Serial number 11970! 4 Speed. 10/70 BUILD DATE. NO PASSENGER FRAME RAIL/BATTERY BOX RUST. NO WRECKS! FLOORS SOLID. Clear title. Reasonable reserve. Someone has questioned me about the thin plates installed on both sides of the car above the T/C mount. UPDATE: Whatever the case...These are NOT "reinforcing" plates. They are very thin. I don't want to remove them as I would not want to do any type of damage doing so. I am not experienced with pop-rivet removal or welding or body work. If there is any rust behind them it would be on a very thin area of the car's wheelhouse, a non-structural area. It does appear they were put on aftermarket, however, all the seams around the T/C mount on both sides as well as passenger battery box area are good and solid, as are the frame rails, which often fail on these cars. Please look at the photos and see. I have posted almost 100 photos of this car, look at most other Z listings, you won't see pictures of the frame rails, battery box or even any shots underneath! I have 100% positive feedback for a reason. All original and correct except for wheels and cylinder head. This has been a very dear car to me as I planned to do an engine and trans upgrade, suspension, etc.... but it's just too original and in incredibly clean condition and should be either enjoyed as is or do it how you wish. I just can't bring myself to modify such an original intact and clean example. CORRECT: Engine block, air cleaner, steering wheel, hatch with vents and vertical defrost wires, storage boxes, hazard switch on dash, etc.. Fun to drive, cranks every time. I have the original driver side wiper holder. I do not have the passenger side mirror. TONS OF PHOTOS AND VIDEOS HERE: http://s200.photobucket.com/albums/aa267/velocejoe/DATSUN%20240Z%201971/ Runs and drives great, NEWLY RESTORED BY Z THERAPY 4 SCREW SU CARBS ($630.00). NEW Clutch Master Cylinder($22.00). NEW Battery($108.00). INTERIOR: Interior is very nice. Has the awesome tall storage box option (hinge for top is broken, easy fix. Dash has a top cover. Only issues are passenger seat has a tear or two, nothing terrible. Driver seat has a split on the bottom. All interior panels, vinyl are good. Door panels do have screws through them at edges. No sun damage, car has been garaged for most of it's life. The fuse cover is missing as well as the cover right below the radio. See photos. Console is missing the parking light control?? next to the choke control. See photo. The passenger side storage box is missing. BODY: Body is amazing, amazing, amazing. There is only one area of corrosion which is behind the driver door/rocker at the bottom. There is some filler in this area, but this is an isolated spot. There is also a small amount of filler in the passenger side dogleg behind the front wheel towards the very back where the fender meets the door. Rockers, wheel arches, hatch area, spare tire well, etc. ALL SOLID. The dark spot in spare tire well is NOT RUST, it is a piece of the original insulation still stuck to the well! I took a picture of the inside of the driver wheelhouse just so you can see how clean this car is. The thing on the passenger side of rear bumper is a reverse noise indicator. It is unhooked. I forgot to take it off before I took photos. I know someone will ask what in the world that "thing" is, so there you go. The car was repainted the original color sometime ago to a decent/good standard, and some pinstriping was done, but since removed. With a good wax this will shine up very nice. The paint is showing its age in some places and there are some areas of missing paint here and there where the pinstriping was. All glass is good. Hatch has had the vents covered up at some point. The rear bumper is a little tweaked on the driver side but no evidence of any hard impact in this area, or anywhere else on the car. Weatherstripping is fair to good. It does not even leak around the weatherstripping when you wash it, so all is well for now. CHASSIS: Chassis is pretty much rust free. Only surface rust if any. Jack points and suspension points are all rock solid. The floors are in good condition and solid, the frame rails are rock solid. The passenger frame rail and battery box area are great. Some time ago someone treated the battery box area with POR-15 to stave off any rust. As pictures show, it has worked and all is well. Wheels are 14" ENKEI. One wheel is missing the "Z" center cap. 3 Tires are DUNLOP SP SPORT 205/60-14, with one front tire being a Prime Well PS 830 185/60-14. Tires have tread left, 10K-20K. Wheels are in good shape, one has a ding at the edge (see photo), otherwise they are rash free. Brakes work well, but brake booster is bad. Easy fix. Just takes more pressure on the pedal than normal. I have the booster bypassed. I DO NOT HAVE THE STRUT BRACE ROD. The mounts are there, but no rod. You can fabricate one very easily. ENGINE: ENGINE COMPRESSION IS 140-180-180-180-175-180 front to back. Don't know why the front is low, some evidence of burnt oil on spark plug. Engine has 168K so no big surprise. It smokes a little at start up, and if you really rev it, otherwise, runs just fine. Stock (N47) exhaust manifold to nice downpipe with custom exhaust tip. Engine is all original except for N47 head off 280Z was installed at some point. Runs good and cranks every time. BATTERY IN PHOTO DOES NOT COME WITH CAR. NEW regular style battery has been purchased. No leaks that I can tell. Radiator does have a very small leak from a tank repair that was done awhile back. Once it warms up it stops. Nothing major, been like that for awhile. Engine holds temperature, etc. I have tuned the carbs and they are great, I have set the timing but it is just a little off, as at high RPM's it wants to break up a little. The distributor has a PETRONIX pickup unit in it. I'm sure with the right person you can get it perfect. It's not far off, just needs the right touch. TRANSMISSION: Shifts great. No issues. Original 4 Speed. Clutch works great. ELECTRICAL: Someone installed a nice set of BOSCH H4 headlights with a custom relay but never finished the job. All the wiring and relays are there and it was wired up at one time but blew the headlight fuse on the fuse block. I never drive it at night, so I never messed with it. Turn signals, interior lights, running lights, dome light, all gauges, brake lights, reverse light, hazards all working, horn, even the factory radio and clock works! Original temp gauge has been bypassed and a much more accurate aftermarket gauge installed below dash. Heater fan does not work. Horn is a Dual FIAMM SERIE TA 3000 and is very audible with a nice Italian high pitch. This also has an electric auxiliary radiator fan mounted to the front of the radiator with a control switch underneath the dash. Nice addition. HERE IS THE STUFF I HAVE TO PUT IN HERE TO PROTECT MYSELF: IF YOU HAVE ZERO OR NEGATIVE FEEDBACK YOU MUST CONTACT ME BEFORE BIDDING, IF NOT, YOUR BID WILL BE CANCELED, NO EXCEPTIONS!!! PAYMENT IS DUE 7 DAYS AFTER AUCTION END. CAR IS TO BE PICKED UP WITH 15 DAYS OF AUCTION END, IF NOT A STORAGE FEE OF $25.00 PER DAY WILL BE ASSESSED FOR EVERY DAY AFTER. BUYER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL SHIPPING ARRANGEMENTS. I CAN ASSIST WITH DELIVERY WITHIN A COUPLE HUNDRED (NOT THOUSANDS) OF MILES FOR A FEE. Thanks and good luck!
