Vehicle Detail
*** NOTE the VIN listed above is not for this vehicle. The correct VIN # is WDB1241201A52986 I had to put a Vin from another Mercedes of the same year to post a listing on Ebay since they don't accept shorter 16 digit European Vin. You are looking at a clean 1989 Mercedes Benz 200D. This clean car has the 4cyl non turbo diesel engine that was never available in the United States. This car is based off of the W124 chassis that was available here in the States. I'm unsure of the origin of this vehicle, whether it was imported from Canada or France. The owners manual is written in French. I took this car in on a trade for another car I was selling so the history of it is a little vague. The interior and body are very clean for a car its age. It has functioning A/C, power antenna and power locks. All of the manual windows roll up and down without a problem. The previous owner converted the headlights to 6000k HID's which light up nicely. The car starts up without problems and ZERO smoke from the tail pipe, even under hard acceleration. It recently had new glow plugs and a battery put in it. The tires are fair as well as the brakes. The front springs are sagging a bit. The odometer is in Kilometers which reads 277,848 km's which is equivalent to 172,646 miles but at the time does not currently work. The speedometer works flawlessly. These engines have been known to run over 500k miles plus the reliability of a Mercedes this car should last quit a while. The engine as you can see by the pictures below is very clean. The trans shifts smooth and the clutch has no signs of slippage or wear. There is a small tear on the upper bolster of the drivers front seat from getting in and out. I have a clean Illinois title in hand. The car runs and drives without problems, with all lights working. Please ask all questions prior to bidding. The vehicle is available for inspection before auction end. Thanks for looking and good luck bidding.
