Vehicle Detail
Beautiful 1969 Mustang Mach 1 with a Q code 428 CJ engine. Car is in excellent condition with very nice paint, great interior and all the style you would want to have with a Candy Apple Red paint and the spoilers, slats and magnums on Polyglass GT tires. History: Car was purchased new in Glenview Il but made it's way to Texas in 1969 or 70 as evidenced by the Texas International Speedway sticker on the windshield(Name was changed to Texas World Speedway in 1971) and the Navarro Junior College(45 min south of Dallas) parking sticker that expires in Sep of 73 meaning it was put there in 1972 on the back window. With all that said the car still retains it's original quarters, trunk floor and drop downs, floors, cowl, rockers and all 4 inner fenders and core support. There is no metal on this car that was made in Tiawan. I have been using the car as more of a protouring type car the last few years but have tried to put it back to stock the last few months. I believe the slats and spoiler were put on by the dealership as they appear to have been on the car most of it's life. The slats are the numbered kind and the spoiler stuff has some part numbers on them and the spoiler is very heavy. Body: As stated, retains most of it's original metal. I believe one fender was replaced as the date code is different from the others, but it is a Ford Fender from another Mustang. Other than that it all looks original. Paint on the car is very nice and shines a mile deep. No dents or scratches as it has been cared for. Pictures of the floors tell the story, beautiful, you could eat off them. Both sides of the inner fenders have the vin stamped into them. All glass is original and looks good. Windshield has a small rock chip but there was no way I was replacing it and it also has a Texas inspection sticker from 1982 on it. Side glass is typical for 43 years old, looks good for it's age. Buck tag is still in it's original location(pass fender by the lights) I've had people tell me this is incorrect that it should be up on the fender by the cowl. Please don't tell me that, the original hole, screw and bend are there. This thing had never moved until I removed it to paint the core support to make it look cleaner. There is NO hole by the cowl where a lot of them are located. Trust me, this is correct for this car. Drivetrain: I have never been able to verify if the engine is original or not. I have looked all over it and never found any numbers on it. Date code is very hard to read too but looks like a 68 cast date. Heads are 428 CJ heads that were rebuilt a couple of years ago and run great. I pulled the shifter out and was able to verify that the tranny was original and you could see the vin still stamped on the pad. Rearend looks original and has a k casting date(Nov). Disc in the front, drums in the back on newer magnum 500 wheels and new Polyglass tires. I also put a new concours exhaust for the 428 CJ. Also, exhaust manifolds are original Ford CJ manifolds. Hard to find air cleaner assembly with snorkel and piece that connects to exhaust manifold are in tact. Interior: Interior has been replaced over the last 4 years and looks great. All the lights work and the rim blow horn even works. Gas gauge and temp gauge work on and off but I had one of those two pod things in the ash tray opening and had more accurate gauges anyway. Pod comes with sale but I have used the gauges for another car. Headlights, brakes and turnsignals work as they should. Seats are original to the car and were recovered a few years ago. A/C is all original. I mean condensor, drier, compressor, lines, evaporator core were all put on at the factory on this car and have been there for 43 years. I had the system tested and it held the vacuum. I did not want to convert to 134a so I have tried to find r12. I have one can that goes with the car. Compressor is hooked up and has a belt running it so it could work if you find some more r12 or you could convert it. All the a/c stuff has an oct 68 date code on it so I just never wanted to change it out, it's part of the cars soul I guess. Headliner is good and visors are good. Suspension: All stock and replaced over the last 4 years. Car is nice and tight. Overall this is a really nice car that you can take to shows with pride or drive all around and not be afraid. Paint is not perfect but no paint job is. You won't find a nicer 69 428 for the money. As with all my auctions this is a no reserve auction. Vehicle is sold as is and miles are unknown. Thanks for lookingOn Jul-16-12 at 06:23:16 PDT, seller added the following information: Thanks for all the questions and complements on the car. Here are a couple of answers to some questions. AM radio works perfectly and is a C9Z radio. Original Teakwood gauges and clock cover are still in the car, I believe it was changed to walnut mid year. Pretty much every single bracket in the car has been professionally powdercoated over the last couple years when I changed something out. On Jul-16-12 at 19:26:34 PDT, seller added the following information: Okay, couple more questions to answer: Steering wheel is also original to the car and is the teakwood with no cracks. From what I've been told most were walnut and as stated, yes the rim blow horn blows nice and loud. A/C blower motor blows nice and hard inside the car so you still have your heater and defroster. Heater core was changed out and has no leaks, proper hoses route to the NOS water heater thing that is controlled by vacuum for the a/c(connects to heater hose behind valve cover. Power steering cooler is there(only 428's had this) and is original to the car Radiator is original and has the Ford markings on the top. Had it recored a couple of years ago to a 4 core radiator for better cooling and car has never over heated. Keep the questions comingOn Jul-19-12 at 08:19:14 PDT, seller added the following information: Had a few fellow ebayer's tell me that the gauge problem is probably the voltage regulator in the back of the gauges is going bad. It's kind of like a 9 volt battery that regulates the voltage to the gauges. They are around 20 to 30 dollars. Torque boxes and frame rails are all original to the car and rust free with no repairs ever done to them. You can still see the factory sport welds on the torque boxes in the two floor pictures. When I replaced the carpet I was surprised to see that the floors looked like they had just run down the assembly line and had perfect red paint still on them. Put dynomat extreme down under the new carpet so inside has really good insulation.
