Vehicle Detail

Classic 1971 VW Super Beetle with Sunroof and Auto Stick. This vehicle was purchased by our nephew and restored for our 16 year old daughter two years ago to drive to school and work. Now it is time for college and she needs tuition money more than a car! Our nephew restored the exterior & interior, put on new tires (bigger tires in back for a "cooler" look) & new fuse box. The engine is original and works fine. Just like any older vehicle, the engine uses a little more oil, but there are no leaks. The exterior was painted white and trim in black. There are a few paint cracks around door hinges and the tail pipes. Some of the black trim on the passenger side has a few small dings from other car doors in parking lots coming in contact with it. The volkswagen insignia on the back is missing. Interior looks fantastic with grey velour upholstrey and black carpet. New black vinyl throughout the interior also. New interior ceiling covering that has come undone a little near the front window - just needs to be retacked. Sunroof works and opens and closes with a hand crank. Haven't had any problem with leakage during rain and it closes tight with the crank in lock position. Our daughter kept this vehicle in ultra clean condition so it still looks like new. We just replaced the master cylinder and had the brakes repaired at the beginning of the summer. Our classic car mechanic, Jon (Jon's Auto Repair in Idaho Falls, Idaho) told us the vehicle is in excellent condition. The car starts right up when used every day and as long as the fuel tank isn't low. Sometimes you have to turn the key (ignition) all the way off and back on again to start the car - this is shown in one of the videos for you. The fuel gauge does not work so our daughter kept track of mileage. It gets 25 MPG on the Highway and about 20MPG around town. This vehicle is a manual transmission with an AUTO STICK which is a RARER vehicle. No floor clutch. The clutch is in the stickshift and Neutral is triggered by touching the stickshift. You can drive the car around town in 2nd or 3rd without ever shifting if you want. Don't hang anything on the stickshift (like a garbage bag) because that can trigger the stickshift to go into neutral. (Don't rest your hand on it either while you drive - it will do the same thing) Sometimes while in Reverse, the car shifts into neutral and you have to reshift it back into Reverse again. Our classic car mechanic said that was typical of auto sticks. The car looks great and runs great. The windshield wipers work and so do the lights. Typical floor heat that comes from the engine (remember when all cars were like that!?)The turn signals work but you have to hold the lever up or down. There is no radio, no horn and the odometer reads 80,650 but that is incorrect. Real miles are unknown on this vehicle and clear title states that. The number 8 is stuck in position. Tires are in good shape (look at photo) but there is no spare tire or jack. iWe are also including an original repair manual for this vehicle. (see photo) We have included many photos and videos also. A short video that shows how well the car runs and has closeups of the imperfections can be seen at : http://youtu.be/wf289mCQWAg. Another longer video of driving from inside the car is available to watch at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6wTV1JamMFg100% NADA Classic Car values this vehicle at around $6000 but we have put a much lower reserve price because tuition is coming due!On Jul-21-12 at 12:47:16 PDT, seller added the following information: RESERVE PRICE HAS BEEN LOWERED!!!
