Vehicle Detail
This is a 2002 Turbo Beetle GLS with engine damage. Good find for a parts car or a project for a true Turbo Beetle lover with ability to replace or rebuild engine. The '02 Beetle you are bidding on was a great car until a coolant hose blew out and it was overheated on the freeway. Driver (my daughter) was not able to pull over soon enough and the engine has damage. Before the coolant dump this car was a very fast turbo charged car. This car was well cared for. It has 4 new tires, new fuel pump, heated leather two-tone seats, and sun/moon roof. It has a spoiler above the reat window that raises upon acceleration and was well maintained and not noisy. The body is in good shape. The paint is pretty shiny but needs a wax job to bring it back to a good shine all over. I believe it was wrecked lightly once before we bought it as there are some signs of touch-up paint but it handled very well at speed on the freeway so suspension etc. seem to be in great shape. The engine, a 1.8 liter turbo, will crank very slowly so it is not seized completely and is rebuildable but will not start. the top end is probably fine for an 85K car. The timing belt did not snap. I pulled the plugs and they are all in decent shape, dry and normal looking. The coolant temp sensor has been replaced along with the thermostat. I do not have the means to pull the engine out from underneath and replace or rebuild so I must part with this rocket.
