Vehicle Detail

Up for sale is my 1985 (early style) Porsche 944. I bought this car 2 years ago with the goal of fixing it up, making it beautiful, and finding a nice home for it where it can be loved and appreciated. Well the time has come that I am finally done. So here it is! I have spent a large amount of money and an unknowing amount of man hours fixing this beautiful Porsche. Below is a (partial) list of the work that has been done. I say partial because I know I'm going to forget some things. I will update this listing as I remember things or find receipts. Aside from the list, I think the pictures speak for themselves. I have also included a few pictures from when I bought the car so you can see the enormous amount of work that has been done to bring this car back to life. Disclaimer PLEASE READ: This is my own personal disclaimer on this car which comes from my experience and researches during my 2 year rebuild process. If you are looking for a great reliable car to drive to work everyday, take the kids out, or anything you would expect from a newer model car, then this IS NOT THE CAR FOR YOU! If you can’t keep this car in a garage then this is not the car for you. This car is now considered a classic. It is over 25 years old. It does not have airbags, anti lock brakes, or any of the safety features found in newer vehicles. I’m not sure why Porsche even bothered with a back seat on these cars because it is basically pointless. There is barely enough room for a small child to sit, let alone installing a child safety seat. ALSO, these cars are unfortunately considered to be very unreliable. If you don’t work on cars yourself, don’t even bother thinking about owning this car (or any Porsche 944 for that matter). The chances of finding someone competent enough to work on this car and charge a reasonable price are slim to none. You may be asking why I’m saying all this when I’m actually trying to sell this car? The reason is because I don’t want someone to not know what they are buying and getting themselves into. I don’t want someone to be disappointed a few months down the road when something goes wrong and the local mechanic wants big bucks just to begin to repair it. I don’t want someone to get this car and end up hating it. I’ve invested way to much time and energy into this car just to have someone get it that is not educated on what is involved in owning a 25 year old Porsche. So please, trust the words I have stated here. If you don’t think you can handle having a car like this and all the responsibility that comes with it, then please, DON’T BUY!!! That being said, here is the list. Engine: Complete top end head job New head gasket New Valve Seals (seated and adjusted) All new top end gaskets (included with head gasket kit) New fuel injection seals Installed fuel pressure gauge on fuel rail New reference/speed sensors (adjusted correctly) New exhaust gaskets New intake gaskets All new vacuum hoses New thermostat New spark plugs New cap & rotor New coil New wires Timing belt and tensioners checked out OK (replaced by previous owner recently) New oil pan gasket Hi-Flow air filter (cone style) w/aftermarket adapter New oil cooler seals New A/C, Alternator and Power Steering Pump belts New motor mounts New Oil & Filter New coolant Interior: Repaired/Replaced any broken pieces/parts Replaced door panels & rear side panels Replaced dash (better condition dash found at salvage yard) Carpet was removed, cleaned, steam vacuumed Seats steam vacuumed New seat covers (seats are not original to this car) Seat belts fixed/replaced New fuse box/panel Replaced complete HVAC box (due to deterioration of motors, etc) Replaced entire gauge cluster Replaced center instrument panel Ran wiring for rear amp & subs New door & rear speakers Replaced sun visors Repaired/replaced sunroof Sunroof bag (included) Cosmetics: Complete wash/buff/wax exterior Installed lower front valance (GT Racing Aftermarket $320.00 + shipping part# 293) Installed side skirts from Porsche 944 S2 Installed rear diffuser from Porsche 944 S2 DINO steering wheel Misc.: New Windshield Rebuilt starter Remanufactured Steering rack New A/C seals at all connecting joints New brake pads all around and calipers serviced Although I have gone over almost everything on this car, there are still a few minor issues that need attention. I am at the point where I need to sell this car for financial reasons, as well as that I need the space for other projects and repairs. So here is the list of what I know the car still needs: Master Cylinder needs replaced/rebuilt (brakes stick) Slave Cylinder for clutch needs rebuilt (pedal does not come all the way back up, per research, slave cylinder rebuild will fix this. Clutch operates fine though) Power steering pump may need replaced Needs front shocks (these are the much cheaper kind that are strut inserts replaced via threaded collar on strut housing) Probably needs rear shocks Rear brake hoses could use to be replaced (I bought new hoses and will include) Needs front wiper arms and blades (I think I have the arms, will include) I don’t think the rear wiper is operational and also needs a blade Cruise control not operational Rear hatch pins need adjusted (hatch is tough to pop open, but lock assembly is fine) Rear hatch leaks a little at top edge (very common on these cars) Wiper fluid system needs hoses to squirt nozzles Needs horns replaced/repaired Needs steering wheel bushing (bushing that goes right under steering wheel & levers) A/C needs charged and possibly further repair if compressor is bad) Needs rear view mirror Front pass. Side fender had previous body repair and some of the bondo has pealed off (see pics) ABOUT ME: I have been working on cars for over 15 years. I have been selling on EBay for 10 years. Most of my EBay selling has been parting out vehicles or in some way related to automobiles. I strive for excellence in my own personal repairs, as well as my business transactions. I prefer to have satisfied customers as opposed to just “making money”. My auto experience has come from many repairs on my own personal vehicles, to a vast number of repairs to friends and family vehicles. I have successfully completed almost a dozen complete vehicle overhauls or rebuilds. This car may very well be my most in depth rebuild to date. I don’t cut corners and I aim for professionalism in even the simplest of repairs. Be assured that this car has been gone over extensively and that any issue remaining has been stated to the best of my abilities and knowledge of the vehicle. VEHICLE IS SOLD AS IS WITH NO WARRANTY IMPLIED OR EXPESSED. I have a clean WV title in hand and in my name. I WILL NOT SHIP VEHICLE. DELIVERY CAN BE ARRANGED for an agreed amount and only within a 60 mile radius of 25419 postal code. THIS IS A USED VEHICLE! There may be other issues that will arise in owning a classic vehicle such as this. Buyer takes full responsibility for vehicle once it is picked up or delivered. VEHICLE NEEDS TO BE TOWED. I have only tested this vehicle for a total of probably 20 miles. There are too many systems involved in any vehicle, especially one of this vintage to risk driving it any distance without testing it in a close proximity to your home and/or repair facility. If you show up planning to drive it home, I will void transaction and deposit will NOT be refunded. $500 deposit must be made upon item end, unless other arrangements are made.
