1999 Volvo XC70 Bought this car a year ago with 230,xxx miles. It ran perfectly when I bought it. I used it as a commuter vehicle for about a year. About a month ago the engine started running rough. I had a mechanic look at it and turns out it has low compression in one cylinder. He told me this could be a head gasket, a stuck valve, or bad piston rings. Currently, has 249,xxx miles. Currently the car starts fine and idles a little rough. It even drives. I drove the car today for a few miles and the engine power was reduced but it could idle and drive just fine. Although it can drive, I would suggest towing or trailering the car home so you can check it over and get it fixed. This would be a great project for someone handy. Almost everything on the car works. The AC is cold, all power windows and locks work. Radio works, sunroof works fine. Heated seats are hot. The rear door needs a new strut. I replaced one but the door was to heavy for one, another would be needed. Took me 5 minutes. This was what the previous owner told me: “CAR RUNS BEAUITFUL 2.4 L TURBO, AUTO TRANS, NEW CAT CONVERTER, NEW O/2 SENSOR, NEW BOOST SENSOR, TIMING BELT AND WATER PUMP RECIENTLY DONE, INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR IN GREAT SHAPE” About 500 miles ago I put on BRAND NEW tires. The car ran so well I had no problem spending $500 on new tires. Worst case, sell the parts and scrap the car when you are done and you could definitely make money. No reserve auction. High bidder wins. Title in hand. I would prefer cash at the time of pickup. Car is also listed on Craigslist locally, auction could end sooner if I find a local buyer.
