This is a 2002 Ford Explorer, It has emission problems, when the engine is cold it seems to run ok, once it warms up it will only run at 1500 rpm's, I checked the compression and all are around 150#, it appeared that the egr valve stuck opened and the intake got a hole in it due to the egr sticking, I installed a new egr valve and epoxied the hole where the exhaust had melted, I did not remove the intake to see if there was any problems that I could not see, there has been a new catalysis installed on the vehicle thinking that was the problem before I found the egr which was $700 just for the part, with there being over 200000 miles on the motor, I just decided to get my wife another used vehicle, the transmission and 4wd worked fine, if you live close and would like to come and look at it just call, this explorer would make a pretty good vehicle if you get this problem taken care of.
