Up for bid is a rare find a 1976 Datsun 280 Z that has been lost in a time warp. This original California classic Datsun is coming from the estate of an 84 year old San Jose woman who has had this beauty aging gracefully in her San Jose California garage for nearly 40 years and has not been on the road for over 12 years as the license registration is the year 2000 still sports original gold on blue matching collector license plates that were issued to this car when newVery rare color combination. The particular 280Z is the rare Datsun color option #240 "Green Metallic" with a Nissan factory color code # 45208 Racing Greenwhich is Datsuns version and very similar to BRG # British Racing Green with a white interiorVery rare color option The car is a fantastic example of one of the most successful Japanese imports It has spent its entire life in the Silicon Valley.This car has been in the Silicon Valley before the Silicon Valley was the Silicon Valley having being sold at San Jose Datsun on October 30, 1976. The car comes with the original purchase order from San Jose Datsun having been sold as an Executive Demo when new to a senior San Jose couple who wanted to be sporty in their golden years. This was the top of the line Datsun available and the owners of the dealership or sales managers would load a car up with all the options in a rare color combination as there driver. This is that car. Automatic transmission was a rare option and is silky smooth 3 speed that operates great. It has very cool aftermarket dealer installed Western Turbine wheels on like new Bridgestone 195 14's. The period correct dealer installed rear sun shade has kept the rear carpet black on about 80 percent. It has the chrome dealer installed front and rear bumper guards and a center option cushion. It was loaded up with all the dealer added options that were very popular in California in the 1970's Datsun Z car's This rare classic California 280Z has only travelled and average of 2400 miles per year with just 88111 original miles It is a huge bonus that this car has spent all of its 36 years in San Jose as this is a very mild mediterranian climate that has preserved this classic to outstanding original condition This Datsun has been sealed away for decades and has not seen the light of day until recently. The paint is still very shiny and looks extremely nice for the age. All of the panels are clean with no sign of any previous damage, the paint has a few minor nicks and scratches but all in all a very clean survivor The chrome bumpers are very clean with only a small tear in the right rear rubber bumper guard otherwise close to perfect It has a set of Bridgestone 196 75 14's Radials that have lots of tread and look like they have little miles on them. The undercarriage is super solid with no sign of any previous damage or repair and years of living in the dry climate of California. All of the glass looks good with manual windows that go up and down easy. The color combination is a rare one with white seats and door panels. The passenger seat looks very nice with no visible rips or tears. The drivers seat has two tears on the seating surface but the back is in excellent shape. The carpet is still black in most places and in very nice shape. It does have some slight discoloring near the console and a small amount on the rear but the 80 percent that was covered by the sunshade looks excellent and black. The door panel on the passenger side is very nice with the top of the drivers door panel show age wear on the very top. The dash has a carpet cover and looks quite nice for the age. It does have two small rips on the very top of the dash behind the gauges, very typical for this vintage. The car has after market air that does not blow cold and will need to be serviced. This is not a real common option on 280Z's.It is missing the front Datsun emblem on hood Has the original Hitachi AM FM stereo. Very solid under carriage that looks to be free of any previous damage or repair. Very solid original survivor. The car's history is very simple. It was bought new by a couple in San Jose in 1976. The car was hardly used with an average miles per year of under 2500 miles. The man passed away years ago and the car was kept inside under wraps. It was recently removed from this location and shipped by flat bed to a Certified Nissan Technicion. He removed the fuel tank and had it boiled out and resealed. All of the fuel lines were serviced and the engine with new lines and filters.The oil was changed, the cooling system still looks quite good with no leaks. We added some fresh coolant and it performs very well with no issues. It runs cool without any overheating. The transmision has clean fluid and shifts great. The car was fitted with a brand new fuel pump. This is an aftermarket pump as the OEM original pump is no longer available from Nisan. The pump works great but is a little noisy. The car has a new battery and the hand brake was replaced. The car has only been in California from new. so 36 or so years ago the conversation on the lot went like this...
