Vehicle Detail
This is a 1973 Ford Ranchero "GT" with a 351 Cleveland V8 engine. I bought this Ranchero to use as my daily driver and weekend cruise car. I enjoy old cars and my wife likes to go to cruise night with me so I thought this was the ideal car. I bought the car with the intention of fixing it up and keeping it. I got a lot of service records with the car from the prior owner, dating back well over twenty years. The car appears to have been well maintained and does not appear to have ever been in any accidents. It does not look like it has any serious rust issues. The car had a new engine installed about seventy five thousand miles ago and has been well taken care of, so I felt this would be a good car to make my daily driver. I wanted the car to be reliable so I did the work I felt the car needed so I could depend on it. I replaced the radiator with a new three core aluminum radiator, new coolant and a new thermostat. The engine had some oil leaks, so I installed new intake manifold gaskets, valve cover gaskets and a oil pressure sending unit. The EGR system was modified to promote better performance and fuel economy. I installed a new electronic distributor, new distributor cap, new rotor, new spark plugs, new spark plug wires and new high output coil. I did an oil change, installed a new oil filter and a new air filter. The power steering pump and hoses were replaced. I installed a new 120 amp alternator, a new starter relay and a new battery. I replaced the brakes and had the rotors and drums machined. The master cylinder and power brake booster are new within the last year. The front and rear springs have been replaced. The front suspension has been rebuilt. The shocks are good. The tire are good, at least fifty percent tread left. All the glass is good. The doors open and close as they should. The windows roll up and down without problems. I replaced the dashboard cap. The interior was originally brown and tan, but has been changed to black with the exception of the seat. The seat is still brown and needs to have a seat cover installed. The headliner is missing, but I have a new brown one that is not installed. The car is a real "GT" model with the factory gauge package. Everything works, except the clock and the A/C. The air conditioning was missing some parts when I got the car. I have located and purchase all the factory parts, so the air conditioning is now complete. I have not had time to install original parts. The car looks good overall, the body is straight with only very small blemishes at the corners of the doors (see pictures) The paint is an older repaint but still looks pretty good. I installed new front bumper brackets in order to get rid of the "ugly" extensions that came on the 73 model year. Now the bad news! My father had a medical emergency and is living with us now. I have to have a four door car, so the Ranchero has to go as soon as possible! This is a real "my loss your gain listing" I need this Ranchero gone now! I am selling this Ranchero with NO RESERVE! The high bidder gets it! I have tried to list everything I can remember. This car drives very good, it is not a brand new car, but it is much better than the ones I looked at before I found this one! The mileage shown on the listing, is the mileage shown on the odometer, I have no way of knowing the true mileage. I am sure the odometer has rolled over. On Jun-13-12 at 17:40:43 PDT, seller added the following information: 6/13/2012 I just installed a NOS Holley 4412 carburetor and 1" phenolic carb spacer, it runs even better now! I decided to install it on the Ranchero rather than sell it separately. On Jun-13-12 at 21:41:52 PDT, seller added the following information: I had originally bought this Holley 4412 to replace the old carburetor and never got around to installing it. Since the car ran very well with the old carburetor, I was going to sell the 4412 separately but since I had bought the new Holley with the intention of replacing the old carburetor I just went ahead and replaced it today. Besides running even better than before, I did notice that the idle adjustment is much more responsive with the new carburetor. So I would say the new carburetor is a definite plus.
