Vehicle Detail

Hello and thank you for viewing my auction!!! This is my 1965 Mercedes 220 S. For you enthusiasts these cars are also known as “Fintails” and “Heckfloses”. It is a 111.012 code body style. Or in plain English a 4 door sedan with a B-Pillar. (I have a ton paperwork, pics and receipts for almost everything listed below) also all original brochures and manuals, some in German. Specs: Engine: Straight 6 cyl. Gas engine, no leaks, sounds great with about 87k original miles. It has 2 Stromberg carbs. (They are rebuilt but always need some attention every season as they are very temperamental) Just fired it up on a cool night and it was a little shaky. (They were tuned on a hot day.) Tranny: It’s a 4 speed automatic with no overdrive. If you know these cars you know it’s basically a 3 speed as 1st gear is only used if you select it. Tranny has no leaks and was rebuilt in the early 2000’s. Shifts as it should. Ok, enough technical talk. This car is great. I will drive it just about anywhere. It’s not a fast car so I’m not one to bring it on long highway trips but it’s capable. Get it on back windy roads and it’s like a go-cart. I am the 3rd owner of the car. The original owner had it until about 2000. The body was restored while with the original owner in the 1990’s. I have a huge photo album of the restoration that comes with the car and receipts totaling about $26,000!!!! I know the car will never be worth that kind of money so some of you may be wondering why such an investment was made. Well, so was I when I bought it and I don’t know the answer but the documents are all there. The interior is near perfect. I have no evidence of any interior restoration but it’s possible. Everything is there and it all works, even the am radio. Real wood is everywhere and it looks awesome! There is no a/c and the heater fan switch gets a little stuck so I try not to mess with it too much but that’s the extent of any issues inside. Now,,,,,,,,,, I am guessing here but I believe at some point after the restoration (maybe 2nd owners) the car spent time outside. There’s surface rust on the underbody and some rust on the lower rockers along with some paint oxidation. If you look at the photos from the restoration you may conclude this yourself as there’s no way this car would be anything but perfect if it were stored properly. (the price will reflect these issues) Seeing the car in person is the only way to truly see the imperfections I’m talking about. I Highly recommend any interested bidder do so. I also highly recommend you drive it if possible. The car is for sale locally and I have the right to end the auction at any time. I will not sell outside the lower 48 states and cannot arrange shipping of any kind. I’ve read every scam email out there so please save your “hello sir, I want to buy this car” emails for some other sucker. Paypal or Cash only!!!! 500.00 non refundable deposit through paypal with 48 hours of winning bid. 7 days to pay in full. I am flexible with pick up. The car will be stored safely in my garage. Email me if you want to come see the car or talk cash price. No tire kickers or dreamers. If you have the means to buy this car I have no problem spending time working with you and letting you examine the car. I can spot the other folks a mile away so please, please don’t waste my time. Oh, always nice to say why anyone is selling something. Well, I have 5 cars total. I guess that’s says it. No time anymore. Thanks There is no warrenty expressed/As is item/Winning bid is contract/Seller can cancel any bids at any time/auction can end at any time/Transportation of item is not provided/pick up only/no shipping!!!! On Jun-04-12 at 16:06:40 PDT, seller added the following information: Thank you for your questions, please allow me to clarify some things 1. This is a Bill of Sale car. In my state you are not required a title after 20 years 2. The car is orginally from NJ. The winner will recieve the documents that disclose everything, including orginal owner. 3. The muffler in the trunk come with the car. It is for a 66 so the hangers will need to be moved to use it. The current muffler has an exhaust leak the size of a quater dead center in the muffler. 4. I have no record of the engine ever being rebuilt. By all accounts this is orginal miles at 88k. Again, Paper work tells the story. 5. I have owned the car for over 4 years. On Jun-07-12 at 11:31:47 PDT, seller added the following information: THE RESERVE HAS BEEN MET!!! THIS CAR WILL SELL!! Bidders with no feedback will be cancelled. I remind you at this point the winning bid is a contract to buy. Thank you all for your bids thus far On Jun-08-12 at 09:11:56 PDT, seller added the following information: Hello All, This is my final update. Please forgive my many updates but I want to be as accurate as possible and new questions from bidders bring up good points. Please note I have put approx. 3,000 miles on the car since I have owned it. The furthest trip I've ever taken the car is about 100 miles. I had no issues but I always recommend any one buying the car to use a trailer. The car cruises great but as i stated in the description its basically a 3 speed with no over drive so she is screaming at 70mph. If you want to drive it for a long haul its at your own risk. Also please revisit that i mentioned that the carbs are very cranky and require occaisonal tunning. A big temp change outside and you'll know what I mean. This car is for fun! not everyday! i expect most people know this but just want to make sure. Also, the radiator was recored and is perfect. The fluids are clean. I also have an extra carb that the winner gets and other misc parts i've swapped or tinkered with. It also has a car cover in the trunk. all yours. If you have feedback under 10 please email me at this point if you plan to bid. I want to sell this car ONCE! and to the highest bidder! not the second highest. Ok thats it folks. I will be watching. Good luck to all and thank you for a pleasent experiance thus far ! mike50bird
