This is a NO RESERVE auction for a 1972 Saab 96 coupe, V4 engine, 4 speed transmission. Odometer shows 47,500 miles, actual mileage unknown. Originally from the northwest, it was sold at Ron Tonkin in Portland, Oregon and ultimately driven to northern New York State by a serviceman at Fort Drum in Watertwon, NY. The car is running, the engine was completely overhauled less than 500 miles ago, with new main and rod bearings, rings, and valves. Transmission shifts well, has original 4 speed column shifter. Most of the work to be done to restore the car is interior, body and paint work. There is some rust in the front footwell area, I removed the carpets to show the areas to the far left and right that have rusted through. There is also a rust-through spot near the center of the front footwell. The drivers side door has a rust-through spot at the lower front edge, and there is some surface rust in various spots on the body panels. The rest of the car appears to have minimal rust. All glass is clear and unbroken. Like-new copy of factory shop manual is included with car. The rear brakes have been replaced - new backing plates, shoes, and wheel cylinders. The front disc brakes have good pads, but they occasionally stick and drag. Tires are Semperit M/S, appear near-new. Last on the road in 2008, stored in barn since then. The car is located in northern New York near Alexandria Bay. This vehicle is not documented by title, ownership is established and transferred by registration. Buyer will be provided with properly executed New York State registration to confirm transfer of ownership.
