Vehicle Detail
For sale is a 1965 Dodge Dart GT project car. From the factory, this car was a 273 V8 with 4 speed transmission. The colors are light blue exterior, light blue interior, and white top. This car is being relisted one last time at the lowest possible price and will be parted out if it does not sell. The car was in driving condition as of last year, but the owner decided to restore it into a show car, so it has been partially disassembled. He also wanted this converted to an automatic, so there is currently a 727 partially installed. This conversion is difficult to do and the installation was not completed. None of the sheet metal has been modified for the transmission, so I would swap the transmissions and put the 4 speed back in it. The original 4 speed is included, as are most of the associated parts (bellhousing, clutch, pressure plate, clutch pedal, Z Bar, hurst shifter, cross-member, shifter bezel, etc). The clutch is worn and should probably be replaced. The original 273 is long gone and currently there is a 318 2V from a later model charger installed in its place. The rearend is a spicer. The 318 has been detailed and was running, but needs a little more work to finish the installation. The engine is currently not running in the car. The engine compartment was cleaned and detailed and painted a semi flat black. It had fender well headers on it at one time, but they have been removed and the cutouts were professionally repaired with original sheet metal. As it is, the engine compartment looks very good. The exhaust manifolds have been ceramic coated and there are new mufflers installed, but the exhaust system is currently incomplete. Most of the easily removable parts, such as body trim, bumpers, and some of the interior have been taken off with anticipation of doing a higher level restoration on the car. These parts are included and are in driver quality condition on average. Some of the trim pieces have some dings and dents and others are excellent. The car has 14" wheels and the spinner hubcaps, but the tires shown in the picture are not included. They are too big and hit the fenders when turning. A set of rollers will be provided to get it home but you will receive the 14" wheels and hubcaps. The paint on this car is driver quality and really doesn't look that bad for a driver. There are no signs of major damage (large chips, flakes, rust, large dents, etc) but there are some ripples and some orange peel. There is some heavy filler in the lower quarters, so you might have repair work to do if you decided to really get into the body work. These sections are not cracked and the paint does not show serious damage. The bottoms of the doors and fenders are solid as is the trunk lid and hood. The trunk pan and wheel wells look to be in good condition. There was one patch in the rear driver floor, which was installed using original sheet metal to match the contours. The interior still looks pretty good, but could probably use some repainting and detail work. The driver bucket seat has a small tear where there used to be an emblem attached. It can probably be repaired without totally recovering the seat. The passenger seat and back seat look good. The top is still installed and in great condition with no tears. The convertible boot is included. There are some cracks in the dash pad. Someone put speakers in the doors and the arm rests have some tears, but other than that, most of the interior still looks good and usable. Parts not shown but included include the 4 speed radiator, AM radio, grille and headlight rings, taillight panel trim, trunk and hood lip trim, interior sill trim, and front bumper and brackets. I cannot find the side mirrors, but other than that nothing else jumps out as being missing. Please ask questions if you are unsure about something. I do not mess with Mopars much and cannot vouch for the completeness and correctness of this car. On Jun-01-12 at 14:56:46 PDT, seller added the following information: Attached are additional photos. If you put your mouse in the bottom right corner of the slide show, you can click through the attached images. On Jun-01-12 at 14:59:49 PDT, seller added the following information: The glass is all intact and looks good. The car has a clear title. On Jun-02-12 at 09:00:52 PDT, seller added the following information: I have been told that the rearend in the car is a 7 1/4. It has the removable cover. On Jun-03-12 at 10:33:54 PDT, seller added the following information: I looked the car over again this weekend and found one issue that should be mentioned. There is a rust hole on the wheel well lip of the driver side quarter panel where the quarter panel and wheel well flanges join together. You cannot see it from the show side of the panel, but it should probably be addressed to keep it from getting worse. You can tell there is some filler on the wheel well flange, so I'm not sure what you would find if you were to strip the car. Overall, the passenger side looks to be better than the driver side. Since this was not known when the auction was started, any currently placed bids may be retracted. Bids placed after this update though are final.I also found a crack in one of the rear brake drums and a crack in the brake hose that connects the main brake line to the rearend. I purchased new replacements for these two parts, which you will receive with the car.
