Vehicle Detail
Here's something you don't see much. A 1972 Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser station wagon with less than 70,000 miles. We had one when I was a kid so I've fallen asleep under those skylites many times on family vacations. So when I saw this one, and the condition that it's in the nostalgia got the best of me. Just check the pics. The electric blue interior is in near perfect shape. The seats are great and no cracks in the dash pad. The headliner is not damaged and it even has the second set of sun visors for the back seat passengers. The only weak point in the interior is the carpet and that's taken care of because the car comes with a new carpet kit, still in the box! As for the body there are a few minor scratches and nicks here and there and the woodgrain is fading in places. But the only real rust is in the rear quarters, and even that isn't too bad (again, check the pics #14-17 driver side, rear to front and #18-21 passenger side, front to rear). Mechanically the car is incredible, I'd feel confident driving it anywhere. The Olds rocket 350 starts right up, idles smoothly and runs strong with no misses, sputtering or coughing. I bought it around 3 years ago. It's sat for 6 months or more sometimes and always starts right up. The car's an automatic with power steering and power brakes, NO air conditioning. The car does come with the third seat. It was purchased separately, It's black and is NOT installed. Someone has used clear silicone around some parts of the skylite (pics #22 &23). But I've never found any damage or evidence of any leak. Bottom line, it's a good looking, solid car. It's like a 72 Cutlass with a big back seat and a kick ass sun roof. My plan was to lose the luggage rack and the woodgrain, add front bucket seats and a console. New paint with 442 stripes, tinted windows and a set of wheels. Station wagons are hot again. But I've got waaaaay too much going on. So I'm clearing out projects so I can get to the parts I need to clear out too. This is a no reserve auction. The winning bidder will make a $500 deposit via Paypal within 48 hours of auction close. The remaining balance to be paid in full within 7 days of auction close.
