Vehicle Detail
1965 AC Cobra 427 Lone Star Classics LS427 Replica - #67 This is a Replica of the 1965 Shelby AC Cobra 427. This is #67 that was produced by Lone Star. This car was built in 1998, and only has 7,857 current miles on it since it has been built. Lone Star replica cars are built very well and had great reviews when they were building these. The original owner (Silverton, OR) bought the replica as a full kit, and had it professionally built, it is a very nice car. This car was built to be driven. The 2nd owner whom I got it from, bought it in 2001 and has fully enjoyed this car but interest have changed and he decided to sell. This is a very nice car, in excellent shape for its age, and is built correctly. The body is fiberglass composite built by Lone Star, as well has a Lone Star Tubular steel frame. There are no cracks or stress makes in the body, all the fit and finish is very good on this Cobra. It was again built in 1998 and has held up very well. The car has always been adult owned and never abused. It has spent most of its life at car shows. The paint is very nice car on the car, and still has its original paint. There are a few small chips that have been touched up here and there, but very minor, you can see pictures in the auction of what I am talking about. It has general wear on the paint, for a 13 year old car, but looks outstanding for its age. The largest chip is down low on the front passenger fender, it has been touched up, it is on the bottom edge. Also the front grill area, were the small lower opening is, has been scuffed on its chin at the bottom, you can't see this unless you are looking under the car for some reason. On the drivers side, around the chrome vents in fender, the paint has blisterd in a few spots, from the heat of the headers. It has been like this for over 10 years, you may want to have the headers inside the engine compartment wrapped with header tape sheild, there are a couple spots on the passenger side as well, but lower and noticed as much. Overall the paint and body are in very nice shape for its age, and shows very nice. The chrome is all in excellent shape. The lights all work and function like they should. The glass is great shape, chips or cracks. The side and top visors, are nice, and say COBRA on all 4 of them. You can take this car to any Show or Cruise-in and you will have a great time. This Cobra is titled as a "1965 Cobra Roadster - Replica", Clean Oregon Title. Mechanically this Cobra is awesome. The drivetrain only has 7800 miles on it, and it runs excellent. I included a picture of the specs of the drivetrain, so I am not going to write much about the components, because you can see them on the sheet. It has a 1972 Ford 351w HO short block, that has been Stroked to 427ci, it is hot little motor 328hp at 5250 rpm, in a very light car. It has Edelbrock RPM Aluminum Heads with Roller Rockers, Torker II Intake, with 4V Holley Double Pumper Carb. The Valve covers are COBRA powered by Ford, wrinkle finshed, with MSD box refinished to match. Exhaust headers and Side Pipers are Ceramic Coated with stainless heat sheilds. The car fires right up, and sounds really healthy, it will make anyone look when it starts up, it just sounds mean. All the gauge work, oil pressure reads 55-60 at idle, temp reads normal, overall just a great running engine. The transmission is a Borg-Warner T-5 5spd Transmission. It shifts nice, clutch feels great, no whining. Does not pop out of gear at any speed, transmission is gone through and works excellent has Center Force Clutch and Scatter Shield. The front brakes are Wildwood Disc Brakes, with Crossed drilled rotors. The rear brakes are Disc as well, but not sure what kind of Calipers it has, they look in very good shape, no grooves on the rotors front or back, and the car stops very good. Emergency brake works as well. The rearend is a 10 bolt Chevrolet 3.73 Posi. The rear trailing arms looks to be Factory 5 units on it. Flaming River Rack and Pinion Steering, Alden Coilover shocks. Overall mechanically this car was built in 1998, but with very little miles on everything. The wheels are 15x7 and 15x8 American Racing Torque Thrust II, with Knock Off Spinners. Tires are BFGoodrich Radial T/A's, P225/60/15 up front, and huge P295/00/15 in the rear, they have about 95% tread on them. Interior is in very nice shape, and done to look much like a vintage Cobra, but with a lot of upgrades inside in general. The Moto Lita Steering wheel is in perfect shape, very fitting for the interior of this Cobra. The carpet is in nice shape. Seats are in great shape, they are Sube Classic Steel Seats. It has Simpson 4 point racing belts as well. Wipers and Heater works great, all the gauges work as well. It has a AM/FM/CD system, that is in the trunk of the car, works with the remote. The remote is not fixed to the the carpet, it is just sitting, there and there is a little tab with velcro that holds it, it can be removed if you like, and does not disturb the carpeting. The door panels are in very nice shape. The chrome door hinges have a little bit of surface rust, on the seams, that could use some detail, but over all a very clean interior with very little wear. It is NOT a trailer queen, but is a nice time capsule , that you would not be afraid to drive, but would also want to park it far away from anyone else in a general parking lot.
