Vehicle Detail
Normal 0 MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 1970 Porsche 914 V8 Conversion This is an original 1970 Porsche 914 I converted to Chevy 350 V8 power about 4 years ago. I used the Renegade Hybrids conversion kit (the best available) and opted for the upgraded HIGH PERFORMANCE 9" CLUTCH UPGRADE. The 350 came out of a 1969 Camaro. The engine had recently been rebuilt when I got it and doesn't smoke or leak and puts out around 300hp. It has headers with high flow mufflers so is fairly loud. The transmission is a stock 901 side shifter, all the shifter linkage bushings are new (1st gear is not used). The rear springs are upgraded (200lb). It has a high torque starter and brand new battery. It has a big block aluminum radiator with electric fan mounted in the front trunk. The 916 fender flares are fiberglass and the car has a new coat of paint. I mounted a set of Sunpro gauges and tach (the stock tach is not connected). The interior is nice with new carpet kit and a dash pad with no cracks. I cut out and repaired as much of the hell hole rust as I could, the rest of the car is solid. The windshield does have a crack that runs bottom to bottom (so won't spread) about 10 inches long at the bottom of the windshield (see picture). It's on the passenger side so don't notice it and never got around to swapping it out. The emergency brake is not installed but I have most if not all of the parts for it. I have never been happy with the brakes on the car with this much power. I upgraded to a 22mm master cylinder and BMW front calipers but I am still not satisfied so if the buyer plans to drive this hard I recommend a 911 caliper/rotor swap. Aside from the 200# springs and the front calipers the rest of the suspension is stock. One thing for sure this care is scary fast so don't think about buying it for you high school student. I have put maybe 500 miles on this car since the conversion so the kevlar clutch is just broke in. It spends most of its time in an insulated garage with my other projects. Hope it goes to someone who appreciates and will take car of it, I put a lot of hours into this conversion. I have too many toys and other projects so need to make room. I have clear WA title but the car is not currently registered.
