I TOOK ON A PROJECT LAST YEAR THAT I SHOULD HAVE KNOWN BETTER THAN TO TACKLE. I AM NEAR 60 YRS. OLD, AND OVER A BUNCH OF BEERS, A COUPLE OF MY FRIENDS AND I TALKED ABOUT BUILDING A 'REAL' SUPER CAR, AND I CONVINCED MYSELF TO BUY A HIGHLY MODDED TURBO S2000 FROM A KID IN THE ARMY (WHO, BEFORE BEING DISCHARGED, WAS SENDING MOST OF HIS SALARY EACH MONTH TO A SHOP, TO CREATE A POTENTIAL 750 HP DREAM MACHINE). ONCE HE GOT OUT OF THE ARMY, HE REALIZED THAT HE NEEDED THAT MONEY TO ACTUALLY PAY RENT, AND BUY FOOD, AND HAD TO LET IT GO. nOTHING WRONG WITH IT, HE JUST RAN OUT OF MONEY. I JUMPED ON IT. IT LOOKED LIKE THE PERFECT "GUYS NIGHT OUT" CAR. A CAR WE COULD FIDDLE WITH, FINISH IT UP, MAKE EVEN BETTER, MAYBE SOME DAY RACE IT. OF COURSE, IN THE MEANTIME, WE COULD GET TOGETHER ONCE A WEEK, FIDDLE AND DRINK BEER IN MY GARAGE. MY PROBLEM IS MY EXPERIENCE IS WITH CLASSIC CARBURETED CARS AND BIKES, AND I KNOW VERY LITTLE ABOUT FUEL INJECTION, ESPECIALLY MODIFIED TURBOCHARGED FUEL INJECTION! AND, SINCE OVER A YEAR AGO, MY FRIENDS CAME OVER ONE TIME, SO THIS NEVER TURNED OUT TO BE THE "FUN" PROJECT IT SUPPOSED TO BE. I FOUND OUT REALLY QUICKLY THAT I WAS IN WAY OVER MY HEAD, SO I LEARNED AS MUCH AS I COULD OVER THE PAST YEAR, BUT DYNO TUNING A CAR WITH A HONDA RSX ECU RUNNING A HONDATA K-PRO SYSTEM (ABOUT A $1500.00 VALUE ALONE WHEN YOU ADD IN THE MANDATORY PARTS THAT WERE NEEDED TO MODIFY THE ENGINE TO WORK WITH THE HONDATA K-PRO. THE KID I GOT IT FROM WAS IN THE ARMY, AND JUST SENDING HIS MONEY HOME TO BUILD IT INTO A 750 HP MONSTER CAR, BUT HE RAN OUT OF MONEY. THAT WAS NOT MY PROBLEM. I STILL WISH I COULD JUST TWEAK IT A BIT, AND GET IT TUNED EXACTLY AS I WOULD LIKE, BUT I CANNOT DO IT ALONE, AND HAVE ENOUGH IN THE BANK TO JUST BUY A NEW MUSCLE CAR I I WANT TO. MY WIFE IS ALWAYS ON ME TO JUST LET SOMEONE TAKE OVER THE PROJECT. IT HAS BEEN DYNOED AT 375HP NOW, AND I HAVE THE BUILD LIST AND RECEIPTS FOR THE $10,000 IN ENGINE PARTS AND $5,000.00 IN LABOR THAT THE LAST OWNER PUT INTO THE ENGINE ALONE. THE ENGINE WAS REBUILT WITH 88,000 MILES ON IT WITH VERY PRICEY STUFF. NEW PISTONS, RODS, SLEVES, ETC. SEE THE LIST, OR I CAN SEND YOU A COPY. THE WHEELS ARE "DRIFZ" BRAND, BLACK WITH SILVER RIMS, AND THE TIRES ARE RIKEN 215/45Z17 91W ON THE FRONT, AND 245/40ZR18 93W ON THE REAR. THEY ARE BIG! MOST OF THE BODY PANELS ARE AFTERMARKET, AND IT HAS A 3" CUSTOM EXHAUST (BUT NO CAT). THE GAUGES THAT WERE IN THE DASH ARE ALL INCLUDED, ALTHOUGH MANY WERE NOT CONNECTED. OIL PRESSURE, AND BOOST/VACUUM ARE ON THE PILLAR NOW. IT HAS AN AP2 REAR END, AND THE GUAGES WORK PERFECTLY. THE MOTOR SOUNDS VERY NICE, JUST NOT "TUNED" RIGHT. I HAVE A MAP THAT WILL MAKE IT RUN BEAUTIFULLY OFF-BOOST, BUT NOT GOOD ON-BOOST. ABD I HAVE OTHER MAPS THAT MAKE IT RUN RICH OFF-BOOST, BUT GREAT ON 10PSI BOOST. I JUST CAN'T MAKE MY OWN MAP TO MAKE IT RUN GOOD BOTH WAYS, AND I DON'T WANT TO KEEP THROWING MONEY AT THE LOCAL TUMER, WHO WON'T GIVE ME A CLUE WHAT TO LOOK FOR. NO HELP WHATSOEVER. JUST TAKES MY MONEY AND ASKS ME WHAT 'I' WANT HIM TO DO. HOW THE HELL DO I KNOW? THEY ARE USELESS TO A BEGINNER LIKE ME. IN THE FALL WE TOOK IT OUT TO THE DRAGSTRIP, AND IT RAN SO RICH OFF-BOOST, THAT YOU COULD NOT REV PAST 3000 RPM, BUT THE 10PSI BOOST WOULD SLAM YOU BACK INTO YOUR SEAT. I TOOK IT TO INNOVATIVE TUNING IN BUFFALO,NY TO GET IT TUNED OFF-BOOST, NOT IT RUNS BEAUTIFULLY, BUT WHEN ON BOOST, IT NOW CUTS OUT AT 6000RPM . IF I PUT IN THE O;D MAP, IT RUNS LIKE CRAP OFF BOOST, BUT KICK-ASS ON-BOOST. I'M FRUSTRATED ENOUGH TO LET SOME KNOWLEDGEABLE TUNER HAVE THE CAR. IT'S WORTH A TON IN PARTS, BUT I HAVE ANOTHER FACTORY TURBO MIATA WITH 20,000 MILES ON IT THAT I BOUGHT NEW, SO I MAY JUST USE THAT FOR GOOD. I WAS NEVER HAPPY WITH THE POWER ON THE MIATA, BUT MY WIFE LOVES IT, AND WE ARE IN A MIATA CLUB, AND IV'E KEPT IT PRISTINE AND STOCK, SO IT WILL ALWAYS MAINTAIN ITS VALUE. I HAVE SOME VIDEOS OF THE CAR ON YOUTUBE, THAT SHOW IT AT THE TRACK, AND SOME OTHERS OF SOME SMALL ELECTRICAL ISSUES THAT I WAS WORKING OUT, WHICH ARE PRETTY MUCH SOLVED NOW (THE PRECVIOUS OWNER CROSSED UP A BUNCH OF RADIO WIRES WITH THE READ TAIL LIGHTS, SO IT WAS A CHALLANGE TO TRACE ALL THE WIRING TO THE PROBLEM, BUT I DID FIX THE PROBLEM. CAR DRIVES FINE, THE MOTOR SOUNDS GOOD. I JUST WOULDN'T DRIVE IT CROSS COUNTRY, UNLESS YOU WANT TO GET 7 MILES PER GALLON! THE GOOD: -NEW TOP, PERFECT CONDITION. -ELECTRIC WINDOWS, TOP,ETC, ALL WORK FINE -HID HEADLIGHTS. NICE, CLEAR LENSES -I REPLACED THE FART CAN MUFFLER TEMPORARILY WITH A 3" MAGNAFLOW MUFFLER TO MAKE IT QUIETER. IT WAS A REAL ANNOWANCE BEFORE., BUT I DIDNT WELD, SO IT CAN BE CHANGED TO WHATEVER YOU WANT. -A/C IS VERY COLD, CRUISE CONTROL STILL IS CONNECTED -WALBRO 255 FUEL PUMP -CUSTOM FUEL RAIL -1000CC INJECTORS -GARRETT T3/T67 TURBO -TIEL BOV -NEW PISTONS, SLEEVES, RODS. INNARDS ON ENGINE. -TRANNY SHIFTS SUPER PERFECT. -HAS A STAGE 3 CLUTCH, SO IT TAKES A TINY BIT OF GETTING USED TO. IT WANTS TO GO. VERY SMALL FRICTION POINT! IT IS A FEW HUNDRED MILES OLD, AS I THINK I ONLY DROVE THE CAR ABOUT 200 MILES LAST YEAR -HONDATA K-PRO ECU AND WINDOWS SOFTWARE. -CUSTOM RAM-HORN TURBO HEADER -HUGE INTERCOOLER -BODY KIT THE ZEITRONICS OXYGEN SENSOR KIT SEEN HANGING ON THE DASH, IS NOT NECESSARY INCLUDED IN THIS SALE, IT IS USED FOR AIR/FUEL RATIO TUNING. I ALSO HAVE A STOCK FUEL RAIL WITH A STOCK REGULATOR THAT RUNS REAL CLOSE TO THE PERFECT PSI. IS A BLAST TO DRIVE, BUT NOTE THIS!!!!!! IT IS NOT A DREAM CAR THAT WILL WIN SHOWS RIGHT OUT OF THE BOX,WITHOUT ANY WORK. I TOOK OFF A LOT OF PLASTIC PANELS, TO GET AT THE FUEL PUMP, DOOR SILLS, ECU, ETC, AND THOSE WILL ALL NEED TO BE PUT BACK ON. THE CAR IS FOR SOMEONE WHO IS KNOWLEGGEABLE ABOUT TUNING HONDAs , AND FUEL INJECTION, AND HONDATA K-PRO IN PARTICULAR. IT'S A BARGAIN TO A TUNER, BUT FOR AN EVERYDAY JOE THATJUST WANTS A FAST S2000, BUY A STOCK ONE AND PAY $10,000.00 MORE. THIS CAR SIMPLY IS WHAT IT IS - A GO FAST TUNER'S CAR WITH A LOT OF EXPENSIVE PARTS ON IT (THAT COST WAY MORE THAN THE SELLING PRICE OF THE CAR), WITH 80% OF THE TUNING DONE ALREADY. I'LL LET THE CAR GO IT GO FOR A BUNCH LESS THAN I PAID, AND THROW IN THE NEW A.E.M. FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR SHOWN IN THE LATER PHOTOS, AS WELL AS AN EXTRA STOCK FUEL RAIL WITH THE STOCK REGULATOR ON IT. I HAVE TONS OF PHOTOS AND VIDEOS. ALSO HAS a zeitronics OXYGEN A/F SYSTEM STRAPPED TO THE DASH IN THE PHOTOS (I BOUGHT THAT RECENTLY) THAT IS NOT INCLUDED, BUT WILL BE AVAILABLE CHEAP IF YOU WANT THE CAR.. IT HAS CHINESE EBAY SEATS IN IT, BUT IF YOU GET IT HOW YOU WANT IT, YOU CAN ALWAYS CHANGE THOSE. IF I HAD ANOTHER SECRET GARAGE MY WIFE DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT, I WOULD KEEP IT A FEW MORE YEARS AND FIDDLE WITH IT, LEARNING AS I GO, BUT AT THIS TIME , I KNOW I SIMPLY DO NOT HAVE THE EFI AND FORCED INDUCTION KNOWLEDGE TO EVER GET THIS PERFECT. CALL ME WITH ANY OTHER QUESTIONS. MAYBE I'LL JUST CALL UP INNOVATIVE TUNING AND ASK THEM IF THEY WANT IT! THEY SAID IT HAD A LOT OF GOOD STUFF ON IT, AND I THREW $700.00+ MORE INTO IT FOR A MILD OFF-BOOST TUNE, AND SPARK PLUGS (WOW) BUT I COULD NOT GET THEM TO TELL ME A THING OR HELP ME OUT IN ANY WAY WITH A BIT OF THEIR KNOWLEDGE, EVEN FOR $100.00 PER HOUR. I OFFERED! THEY MAY BE A GOOD TUNERS, BUT WERE THE LEAST HELPFUL PEOPLE I EVER MET. I GUESS IT YOU DON'T SPEAK THEIR LANGUAGE, YOU'RE NOT ONE OF THEM, AND THEY DON'T NEED YOU. SO I WILL GIVE UP ON THIS PROJECT AND LET SOMEONE WHO KNOWS SOMETHING ABOUT IT ENJOY THIS PROJECT AT MY LOSS.
