Vehicle Detail

1950 Skoda 1102 is a small sedan built in Czechoslovakia. At first called 1101Tudor and later 1102 this little car was in production from 1945 to 1952. Known for sturdy and reliable design these once ubiquitous vehicles are now almost extinct. A convertible as well as 2-door coupe were produced. Skoda was marketed in Canada and the US. It is in the same vouge as Ford Anglia and Opel Olympia. This example somehow survived in Canada rescued from a crusher at a local junk yard by its previous owner. The car required some carb cleaning and new brake master cylinder (VW Beetle unit) to roar again after decades of hibernation. The car drives and stops, gears shift without a problem; it amused me on a short drive with its perky personality, sweet engine and light steering. The car needs complete restoration but is, on visual inspection, free of rot. It does have surface rust but no holes. The wooden frames in the doors are mostly intact except for the driver's door. The bottom rail has been replaced with temporary pieces. Floorboards are solid as are the suspension pickup points. At some point the Skoda was treated to a paint job that perhaps prevented the sheetmetal from rusting but did nothing to enhance the car's looks. Torn, shredded and with stuffing coming out of it, the upholstery looks like a victim of an angry bull terrier. The headliner is removed and missing, the door covers taken off but present. The gas tank is rust-free and clean. Your restoration efforts will be rewarded at any local car show with never-ending inquiries, second-glances and perhaps a prize or two, provided they have a category such as "most obscure" or "never seen before." I have two brand new taillights for the car, one brand new fender light and two original ones, two extra wheels, starter and original generator. Shop manual and parts catalog are currently available on Ebay from another seller. You can inspect the Skoda before the auction’s end. The car has Illinois title. To see and hear the Skoda run go to Youtube and type: 1950 Skoda 1102 also known as Tudor or 1101 ( Ebay no longer tolerates direct links to Youtube ). On Apr-28-12 at 21:31:31 PDT, seller added the following information: I have both bumpers for the car, made of sheet tmetal with aluminum strip on the leading edge for that all important "bling" effect. The bumpers are dented but complete. On Apr-28-12 at 21:35:39 PDT, seller added the following information: The hand crank is also included. Engine can be easily started with it.
