Vehicle Detail
1972 Volkswagen Westfalia "Westy" Pop-top Camper Bus Selling this camper Bus. Love the driving position of being over the front wheels and the ability to hang over the steering wheel. Originally white from factory, still white - this bus has had some touching up over the original paint. Bus has some dings and scrapes like we all do, but the only place I could find any body filler was on the front nose. This seems to be common with all the campers featuring the front mounted spare tire. There is also surprisingly a lack of the common VW rust. With very few exceptions (outer floor spots and battery spot) this bus appears to be rust free. Solid bones may be the most important feature. The tent has been replaced and I could not see any rips in it. Apperars to be ready for camping. This bus is a driver, but not without some glitches you may expect for an unrestored 40 year old vehicle. Do not plan on jumping in it and driving it cross country. Will need a tune up and tires and probably a few other normal things for a VW that has been sitting a couple years. Note that first gear is weak. This isn't really a problem as first holds well as long as you keep gentle pressure on the gearshift. All other gears feel fine, based on a recent drive across town. I can include a used replacement gearbox if you want a backup. Does need a battery. The interior has a jump seat, wardrobe cabinet, overhead storage, seat that fold-out into a bed (sleeps two), pop top with an upper birth cot. The bed upholstery is the original yellow vinyl and it has a few rips. The upper sleeping cot appears to be original canvas and it is torn. The jump seat was recovered in blue fabric by a previous owner. The tent is in good condition as it is a replacement. Front seats have original vinyl under the seat covers as shown in photograph. Cabinets are pretty decent with a few corners that have loose edging or a little laminate delamination. Curtains and rods are there and functional - expect to see fading, but I guess you could re-dye the curtains. They were tie-dye style. I also have the front privacy screen that covers the windshield and front windows for a more intimate interior and that is very presentable with a nice tie-dye pattern. I pulled the front floor mat and photographed the floors so you could see the condition of the floors underneath - notice it is original paint and no shoddy patches like many VWs out there. Comes with jack and spare tire. The bus runs and drives through all four gears as described above and stops. Has not been used regularly in a while, so will need some tune up attention, as mentioned. Remember it is still an older vehicle and needs a few things. So there you have it. A chance to get a really solid camper bus that is mostly complete. Pick it up in person or I will help your shipper get it to you. Dispensing with some of my small collection. Clear and clean West coast title. Low reserve. Don't miss this chance to make this great VW your own. Enjoy. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Disclaimer.
