Vehicle Detail
1959 Studebaker Lark VIII 2-door Hardtop - 259 CID Studebaker V8 with Automatic Transmission This has been a fun project and I'm certain you will have much enjoyment with it also. To be clear, this has a genuine Studebaker 259 CID V8 engine - NOT CHEVROLET. It is a Studebaker V8 that has been modified a little bit. The dual four-barrel intake manifold was gifted by a 1955 Cadillac El Dorado and topped with twin Rochester model 4GC carburetors. Above those Rochesters you will notice there are some period-specific perks: the air breather box is actually a classic UMCO tackle box customized for a new life with your mother's or grandmother's Bascal and West Bend anodized aluminum tumblers put in position to be the velocity stacks. These cups are past their lemonade stage though as they are drilled and fitted to be fully functional. Bringing the fire is a Pertronix ignition with a Flame-Thrower coil and premium Belden racing spark plug wires. The exhaust they create is carried smoothly away through the new daul pipes with Walker Turbo tube mufflers making a great noise. The power created by this tweaked powerplant is put to the pavement on F78-15 BF Goodrich rubber on steel wheels in the front and N50-15 Grand Am Super Wide GT meats mounted on chrome Cragar S/S 15x10" rims. Of course these are bias ply tires to keep faithful to this fun era. To help keep this ride right on the road there are new air shocks in the rear and traction bars as well You can see this is not your typical Chevy, Ford or Dodge muscle car. This is going to make a great rat rod or gasser style cruiser for you. You can see and hear this classic rod at the following links: http://youtu.be/bK9dHymUc5c http://youtu.be/KDyv88mOZlI In the pictures you can see some pertinent detail and some of the imperfections picked up in this car's journey. I have tried to chronicle these clearly such as the dent in the passenger front fender and some of the patina in other places - some of the chrome peeling on the Cragar rims for example. Of course if you have any concerns or would like some clarification regarding any of the pictures please click the button and send me a question. I have every intention of presenting this car exactly as it is - ready for some more TLC for you to TCB!
