Vehicle Detail
In 1991, if you wanted a real American pony car, you had two choices. You had Ford's originator, the Mustang or the one from that other manufacturer. Mustangs came in a lot of different forms. You could get luxury with economy with a 4 cylinder. You could also get a really nice GT cruiser with the 5.0L V8, comforts, and nice ground effects. But, if you wanted a serious muscle pony car, what you looked for was an LX V8. You had the 5.0L V8 without the added weight of the ground effects. Rated at 225 hp, the 5.0l was a great match for the car. Throw in 300 lb-ft of torque and you have a car straight from the factory that still runs with the best of them today, 21 years later. Up for auction is a beautiful example of one such vehicle. This car is what you would call a very low mileage (75,221 miles) survivor. You will be hard pressed to find another, better unrestored example of one of these cars. With only a couple of understandable exceptions, this car is totally stock. Hailing from the south, this car lived first in Florida and then came to South Carolina where it is today. Even better, this car has one of the cleanest histories you can imagine. No wrecks. No incidents. Simply clean. The outside of this was originally oxford white. However, as with most cars of the early 90's, this one probably had its paint fade. To fix this, one of the previous owners had it painted. They did a very nice job. Even better, they made it a slightly pearled white. It's really subtle, but the pearl is there. It's not a new paint job but very nice nonetheless. Walking around the car, one of the few modifications stand out. The center caps have been painted black. Being a bit of a purest, myself, I wasn't keen on this. However, they do offer a nice highlight and match the rubber trim nicely. Apart from this, the outside is totally stock. Even the headlights are Ford headlights. Opening the door, you'll see an interior that is about as close to showroom as you can find in an unrestored 21 year old car. The seats show little to no wear. Like I said before, this is simply a clean well kept car. Everything is factory original with the exception of the radio (and who could blame them?) Everything works. The power windows raise and lower with ease. The power locks work. The power hatch release works. Most importantly, given the summer season right around the corner, the A/C blows cold and has been converted profesisonally to R134. When it's all said and done, the most important thing about this car is really its heart. Under the hood is Ford's outstanding 5.0L V8. 91 was right in the middles of the golden years for Mustang modifiers and hotrodders. In 1989, Ford introduced a MAF setup on the 5.0L (1988 in California). This made changes to the engine a whole lot easier. Better still, 1991 still used forged pistons. So, they could handle a lot more power than the 1993 and up when Ford changed them to a hypereutectic piston. This engine runs fantastic. It fires up quickly and idles perfectly. Like I mentioned before, this is a very low mileage car. It still has the original 1991 labeled wires on it! When you hit the gas, this car is ready to go. There's no hesitation. And if the acceleration doesn't let you know this car means business, the trademark Mustang exhaust rumble reminds you of what you're driving. Adding to the comfort level, this car is equipped with an automatic overdrive transmission (just like the muscle cars of old). The transmission shifts out perfectly. Holding you to the road is a set of nearly new tires. I am an automobile retailer in upstate SC. I have described this vehicle as completely as possible. However, I welcome questions and comments. You can contact us either through email, Ebay, or telephone at (864) 576-2458. Just ask for David. I can also take more photgraphs and send them to you if needed. Test drives and personal inspections are encouraged. Feel free to check our feedback and bid with confidence. Please note the following guidelines: I have to sell this car "as is with no warranty". High bidder is required to make contact me within 24 hours of the end of the auction. $500 deposit (cashier's check or money order) is required within 2 days of the end of the auction with the remaining balance due 4 days thereafter. If the high bidder does not satisfy the balance in the alotted time period and does not make prior arrangements, the $500 deposit is non-refundable and I reserve the right, at that point, to offer the vehicle to the second highest bidder. If I do not hear from the high bidder within 48 hours from the end of the auction, I reserve the right to offer/sell the car to the second highest bidder. Zero feedback bidders are welcome, but please contact me prior to bidding. I reserve the right to cancel zero feedback bids that have not done this. Please keep this in mind if you are a "last minute" bidder. This vehicle is listed for sale locally for $5000. We reserve the right to end this auction early if the reserve has not been met and it sells locally. However, once the reserve is met on the Ebay auction we will pull it from the lot. I have set the reserve at $4500. Please note that I will not end this auction early except under the circumstances listed above. Ending an auction early when the reserve has been met is unfair to the other bidders and, quite frankly, downright unethical. We would be happy to pick up the winning bidder at the local airport (Greenville Spartanburg International Airport), the local train station, or the local Greyhound station. I do not pad our prices with any "documentation" fees like so many other car dealers on Ebay do. Contrary to what many dealers will say it really doesn't cost much to fill out a couple of papers. SC buyers will need to pay standard taxes (sales and property when applicable). I can also help out of state buyers get a South Carolina temporary/vehicle in transit tag ($20). Finally, SHIPPING...we do not ship cars ourselves. However, we will be happy to work with your shipper. Good luck bidding. On Apr-01-12 at 19:26:22 PDT, seller added the following information:I just remembered two minor things with the interior. We are currently looking for factory material to have this repaired. If we cannot find it, we'll refund $100 to the winning bidder. The outside driver's seat bolster does show some wear and the ashtray, a common issue with these cars, does not stay closed. On Apr-06-12 at 18:14:14 PDT, seller added the following information:After receiving questions concerning a possible color change from red to white on this car I have sent it to a local body shop for inspection. It does appear that this car was once red and the color was changed to a pearl white. I will stress though that absolutely no sign of any collision or damage, major or otherwise, was detected. In the interest of honesty though, I felt it necessary to comfirm the color change. Thanks, David
