Hello all. This is a decent 1971 Ford Thunderbird. It is 4 door, with the suicide doors in the rear. Only made from 1967-1971. The 67, 68, 69 had a flat front and different tail lights, but the body was the same. 1970-71 had the pointed front. Those that know the car will already know that! I will list the details as it is easier to follow. It does run, drive, and stop! Big 429 V8- Runs good, leaks a little oil, not sure from where, smokes a little at start-up. Sounds strong. Automatic transmission. I think it's the C6, but not 100% sure. Needs rebuild. It takes a good 20 minutes to go into Drive when cold. Goes into Reverse right away. Once it warms up, it works good most of the time. Power windows, all 4 doors- Drivers side front only one that works. All others stay closed! Back two slightly open (down just a bit). Power locks and seat- neither work. Can manually lock doors. Horn doesn't work- have a sneaky suspicion it's just a fuse, never looked into it. Air conditioning is there, but doesn't work. Front end needs work. Not sure how much, but it is loose. Will stay straight if you lead it! Has a tendency to go where it wants on rutted roads. Exterior is ok. Original Butternut Yellow paint. Good from 10 feet. Up close there are painted over surface rust spots. Paint is cracking in various places around car, starting to peel a little in spots also. A few dings here and there. Matching hubcaps also scratched. (Hey, after 40 years, you'd have some dings too!) Interior is very nice. Original, has one button missing from front passeneger seat, small crack in dash. Black in color and really nice. Radio works. Undercarriage is good. I don't have pictures of it, but looked at it when I was getting the oil changed! Overall, not a bad car. In all-original shape. It was a barn find when I bought it. Have put a couple grand into it so it could be an everyday car. Have all the reciepts for the work. Does need some work, I do drive it. No visible rust, haven't delved into or under anything to determine accurately, but judging by the body, it's good. Tires are about a year old. Lots of tread. Hardly any miles put on them. Original wheels as far as I know. Taillights are sequential blinkers, however, had a non-working socket on the drivers side, so mechanic cut it out and replaced, now that side doesn't sequence. Passenger side does. All lights work, wipers are new and work, has a crack on passenger side of windshield. Small chip also. Black full vinyl roof with small stains toward the front. All doors open and close tightly with hardly any effort. Has those good old Ford doors! The pictures make the exterior shots look better than the car does in person. I guess low light really does work! The interior is actually like the pics. I"m probably missing some stuff, so feel free to ask questions. These cars are getting hard to find. Here is a good opportunity to get one, and with a little work, it will be an awesome ride! No guarantees or warranties offered or implied. Have tried to explain the good and bad about car.
