Vehicle Detail

Thank you for looking at my beautiful triple black Mark V. It’s lived its entire life in Virginia and always garaged. Originally purchased at Ray Dobbins Lincoln/Mercury in Roanoke, VA, the second owner had the car repainted to its factory color black to freshen its look a number of years ago. The paint still glistens in the sun. This survivor has only traveled 55,840 miles. It recently completed a 1,500-mile round trip to Illinois. I wouldn’t hesitate to drive this car anywhere. Fly in and drive it home. While Lincolns were the pinnacle of personal luxury, this car literally had it all when it came to options: Black Valino Vinyl Roof, Traction-Lok 2.75 Rear Axle, Headlamp Convenience Group, Defroster Group, Speed Control, Tilt Steering Column, AM/FM Stereo Radio w/Cassette, Intermittent Windshield Wipers, Appearance Protection Group, Remote Control Right Hand Mirror, Lock Convenience Group, Power Vent Windows, Visibility Light Group, and Rocker Panel Moldings. 1979 was the last year of the large bodied Mark Vs. The following year Lincoln shortened the car two feet. 1970s Lincolns came in an array of colors – but none compare to the timeless finish in black. And black was a rare color for Mark Vs in the 70s. In 1979 75,939 Mark Vs were produced (Note 1 below). Only 3,925 of those were painted in black. Out of those, only 1,393 had the black leather/trim option. Only 287 total Mark Vs came with the black Valino vinyl roof. Thus a triple black combination was rather rare during this time. While many Lincoln enthusiasts have color changed their cars to get the timeless beauty of black, this Lincoln was born in black. This car has been meticulously maintained. Recently replaced items over the past few years include alternator, battery, a/c compressor, cooling hoses, brakes and new tires. The engine is numbers matching and original markings can be seen on various hoses and parts throughout the engine. I even have the original keys with leather pouch with dealer inscription on the back. It runs and drives flawlessly. The a/c blows cold. Even the clock works. Mechanically the car is in excellent condition. The 400-2V engine is clean and runs as it should. It gets about 13 miles to the gallon on the highway, which is comparable to many SUVs. The brakes were replaced less than a year ago. The transmission shifts smoothly. It has remarkable steering response for its size. The interior is in excellent condition. The sumptuous leather surrounds you with luxury. No rips or tears on any of the seats, door panels or armrests. The carpeting, headliner and rear parcel shelf are beautiful and in excellent condition. It even has dual vanity mirrors. It has the trunk release in the glove compartment. The trunk's interior is in original condition with original and never used spare tire. The exterior of the car is simply beautiful. Its black finish glistens during the day and under lights at night. The underside of the body is in excellent condition as it received heavy undercoating from the factory. The original Valino vinyl top is thick, luxurious and in excellent condition. The car's stylish low profile body lines and boulevard long hood are classy and distinctive of the 1970s. Everywhere it is driven people stare in envy “I want that car!” This particular Lincoln is an outstanding and rare example of class and personal luxury. You will not be disappointed. Maintenance records and maintenance manual as well as two sets of keys (one original set and spare set) are included. Please email with any questions. I have the car advertised locally and reserve the right to terminate the auction at any time due to local advertising/sale.
