Vehicle Detail

Featured here is my 1967 Pontiac Firebird 400, 4 Bbl, 4-speed. It is a PHS-Documented, numbers-matching, frame-off restoration that is 98% complete. The engine has less than 100 miles on the rebuild and is not yet broken in. The following is a list of new and reconditioned parts: Rochester Quadrajet carburator from a 1968 GTO (the same one used on the Firebird). Rebuilt, original transmission (3:36 posi). New drive shaft. New oil pump. New timing chain. Rebuilt power steering pump. New power brake booster. New master cylinder. New alternator, starter and ignition. New polyurethane body mount cushions. New bushings on original shifter. New battery, battery cables and wiring harness. New heater fan motor. Hooker headers, 2-1/2" exhaust, H-pipe. New ball joints, suspension bushings, brake cylinders, calipers and pads. New tires. Original, reconditioned Rally rims with new GM brushed rim trims. New front inner and outer wheel bearings. New shocks and mono-leaf springs. New parking brake cables. Professionally replaced front floor pans, trunk pan, trunk lid and rear quater panels. The windshield is new. New tyrol blue paint (Napa Crossfire). New light switch, lighter, dash pad, head liner, seat springs, upholstery, carpets, stereo, front and back speakers, and driver's side mirror. Reconditioned center console. Original wiper blades. All lights inside and out work. Original parts still in need of reconditioning: seat belts, rearview mirrror, front bumper insert (plastic just needs repainting), rear seat backrest springs (I have the new cover), jack (needs blasting and paint). The jack handle is missing. The front bumper could be chromed, but it's hard to tell at ten feet away. When the new windshield was installed there was a small gap in the seal which needs fixing. There is a similar gap in the rear window seal. I'm told this is an easy fix at a windshield shop. There are a few very small nicks in the paint where a key might have hit or a tool was used carelessly, but you have to look close. I am a perfectionist and would say the paint job and body work is very good but not concourse. Again, you have to look close to see it. The car looks beautiful as you walk around it, and it sounds and runs like a lion. I treat it like a baby, as it's not yet broken in. It is always garaged and never driven in the rain. I'm sure there is more I'm not listing and I would be happy to answer questions over the phone. Basically the entire car has been done over. I am not a mechanic or restoration specialist, but all work was done by a local professional. Again, there were only 1,220 of these 4-speed 400s manufactured, and this one has the engine and transmission it came with. A $1,000 non-refundable deposit is required vie Paypal at the close of action, with the balance due within 7 days. I will accept cash, certified bank check or wire transfer. The car is sold "as is" and there will be no refund. Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer, though I will help out in any way I can on this end. This car is advertised locally as well, and I am entertaining any reasonable offer before close of auction. I'm confident this is a solid, powerful, beautiful classic anyone would be very happy to own and drive, one that will continue to increase in value. I'm letting it go reluctantly only because we're building a house this spring. Happy bidding On Mar-24-12 at 11:12:23 PDT, seller added the following information: This car gets a lot of respect wherever it goes, not just because it's good-looking, smooth-running and fast, but because it hasn't been molested. There were only 1,220 of these cars ever made. It retains as much of it's original attributes as possible without pretending to be something else. It doesn't need to: it has the presence of a survivor and speaks for itself. At its heart is the original 400 engine with less than 100 miles on fresh rings and bearings. It ticks away with more power than you'll know what to do with, running on the original 4-speed, tapping the original 3:36, also rebuilt. She's been taken apart, stripped to metal, and reassembled piece by piece, with nearly every part reconditioned, rebuilt or replaced. The following is a partial list: Rebuilt Rochester Quadrajet carb, new drive shaft, oil pump and timing chain, power brake booster, master cylinder, alternator, starter and ignition. Rebuilt power steering pump. Fresh polyurethane body mount cushions, shifter bushings, battery, battery cables, wiring harness and heater fan motor. Hooker headers, 2-1/2" H-pipe exhaust, new ball joints, suspension bushings, brake cylinders, calipers and pads, and parking brake cables. Tires are fresh on original, reconditioned Rally wheels with GM brushed rim trims. New front inner and outer wheel bearings, shocks and mono-leaf springs. Professionally replaced front floors pans, trunk pan, quarter panels and trunk lid. Fresh Tryol blue paint. New light switch, lighter, dash pad, carpet, head liner, seat springs, upholstery, stereo, front and back speakers, and driver's side mirror. Reconditioned center console. All lights inside and out work. Part still in need of work include the following: rear view mirror, seat belts, front bumper shelf liner (just needs paint), rear seat backrest spring (I have the cover), and jack. The jack handle is missing. When the new windshield was put in, a spot was missed on the seal. There is a similar spot on the rear window. I should have this done by the end of auction. There are a few small nicks in the paint where someone was careless with a key or a tool, but nothing you can see unless you look close. There is a subtle irregularity in the shade of paint between the door and body, but again you have to study it to see. The car is beautiful and purrs like a lion. I treat it softly, as it's not yet broken in, and it's always garaged. A $1,000 non-refundable deposit is required at close of auction (Paypal), with the balance due within 7 days. I will accept cash, certifiable bank check, or wire transfer. I'm an honest person and will describe every piece on this car to the best of my ability, including those needing work. There will be no refund. Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer, though I will help our in whatever way I can from this end. Happy bidding!
