This project was started many years ago and put into storage due to divorce and a cross-country move. Now it sits in storage in the Chicago area while I live in NY without a suitable garage. I can't afford to pay for storage anymore so here it is on ebay. It needs a lot of work but there's a lot of good stuff here to start with. Please give it a good home. There is no reserve on this auction. The photos are not the best because I didn't intend to sell the car when I took them. The rolling chassis sat at a body shop for some time and has body shop dust on it. The car started out as a 1977 Firebird Esprit that was my daily driver in the 1980s. The body shell got rusty so I had a very clean, rust-free body shell (1979 Formula) shipped up from Texas that still wears very worn original paint. The paint in the door jambs, trunk and on the firewall look factory fresh. It's currently a rolling chassis with the '77 subframe containing the original '77 Pontiac 350 4bbl V8/Turbo 350 trans attached to the '79 body shell. Rearend is an open 10-bolt with 2.56 gears that was originally under the '77. The '77 was a running car when it was parked and disassembled. Also in this lot is a spare Turbo 350 trans (B-O-P case), a Turbo 400 trans (B-O-P case) and a Pontiac 400 V8 on an engine stand (included). The 400 came from a friend and I'm not sure what internals it has. He told me it ran when it was pulled from the car it was in and that's all I know about it. It turns easily and should make a good core for rebuilding, which was my plan for this project. It's topped with 6X heads and an old Mallory Unilite distributor. There are also two intakes, a stock, cast-iron 1x4bbl and an Edelbrock 2x4bbl with a pair of Carter AFBs on it. There are used/worn parts from the original '77 Esprit interior and rusty door shells containing good side glass and window mechanisms. The body will need front clip sheetmetal and inner/outer door skins to be complete. The body shell has front and rear glass and there's a second rear window included. The 350 in the chassis has 1980s Blackjack AK5000 3-tube headers and there is a custom aluminized dual exhaust system including dual, low-restriction, aftermarket catalytic converters and Flowmaster mufflers. The exhaust system was not on the car for long before it was parked and was solid when it was put into storage. There are three sets of wheels included, four 15x7 Snowflake and four 1986 16x8 Trans Am/Formula wheels in addition to the black steel wheels the chassis rolls on. There is also a brand new set of H-O Racing "Strong Arm" suspension parts including a front sway bar, KYB gas shocks, front coil springs and polygraphite bushings. There are also other assorted small parts of varying condition in this lot. Please look at the photos and ask questions. All contents of this lot are sold as-is with no warranty expressed or implied. This lot includes mechanical parts over 30 years old that have not been used in 10+ years. As I'm sure you already know, rebuilding/refurbishing will be required to make these items roadworthy. This sale will be final with no returns accepted. The purchaser will be required to collect all of the items at the storage facility in Hillside, IL, in the near west suburbs of Chicago (I will have an agent there to provide access) within two weeks of winning the bid. Obviously this will require a trailer for the rolling chassis plus considerable space for the additional parts. A heavy-duty pickup with a trailer should handle it all.
