Vehicle Detail
This is my 1986 Subaru Brat. It is the nicest Brat I have ever seen. There are a few modifications and many extras that go with it. It will not sell cheap. If you'd like to know more you should call me @ 319-310-0451. Here are the details: On Mar-15-12 at 19:46:49 PDT, seller added the following information: Originally a California car (it has the CA emission sticker to back that up) truck hasn't seen snow since at least 1998. Runs terrific, starts instantly. Just completed 600 mile journey in it. Not the most comfortable ride in the world, but I can tell you it gets 27 miles to a gallon! Truck will go all day long. Interior is in exceptional shape. Not even a crack in the dash (try finding that!) Everything on it works - except the factory tape deck. It's a 4-speed manual with 4wd Hi and Lo. Great tires. Original paint. Not perfect, but it is the nicest Brat I have ever seen and I bet you'll say the same. Gets comments everywhere it goes. Usually it's: "What the heck is that?" Installed extra stuff: Three inch body lift 14 inch O.E. Subaru wheels (13 inchers included) Center console from Subaru wagon Rear disc brake conversion from Subaru wagon Front axle shafts recently replaced Original owners manual and tool kit Dash mat Other extra stuff: Topper New, in box rear brake calipers and pads New thermostat New fan switch 2 new ball joints Some other new parts I can't remember! An extra air cleaner The O.E. skid plate (removed for lift) Correct 13 inch aluminum wheels and lug nuts (with junky tires!) A complete power window setup from another Subaru Ok, so what's bad about it? Well, not much. There is some rust. A touch in the bed at the wheel wells, and just behind the driver's side wheel. The truck is solid - but it's there. It like to drip oil, from the oil pump housing. This is very common, and really an easy fix. But really - that's about it. The thing really is as sweet as it looks in these pictures. I can write forever but the best way to learn more is to call me. 319-310-0451. If you prefer you can email me too. Pick up an payment can all be worked out. If you're cool, so am I. Thanks for reading! I want a good price for a car that's nearly impossible to find. There was a Brat for sale for $1200 twenty minutes from my home. The floors were split open with rust, and ran terrible with 190k. If that thing is worth $1200, and the BRAT in auction # 150781224235 is worth $15,000 - well mine should fit somewhere in between. How's the 4WD / Clutch / CV boots? All great. Air? No, no A/C. It has a sticker on the heater control that says "Car is equipped for installation of optional A/C" I'd just open the rear-sliding window and pop open the t-tops and keep smiling. Everyone is crazy for jump seats: This Brat never had them. 1985 was the last year for them. Can I pick it up later? Yes. I can't guarantee it will wait for you indoors, however. Call me for these sorts of conversations. What about rust? I've shot photos of the rust spots. I included a shot of the passenger side rocker (it's rust free) so you can compare the two sides. We are still in the "easy fix" stage. Wheel well rust is still all superficial - but ugly. Finally: Folks if you want a nicer one, go buy the one I just mentioned . If you want to spend less go buy one that's rusted like mad and then spend $2000 and the next three years fixing it. Or - if you want to buy a really nice one that you can drive home and is totally solid - well then you should bid. Best of luck to ya.
