Vehicle Detail

You've heard of rare barn finds, this is a rare garage find! Certified one owner 1958 Edsel Ranger 2 door. Car is mostly original; it was re-upholstered once. Other than the upholstery, car is bone stock. It has been in Southern California since new, so rust is not an issue. It has not been driven since 1984 and not registered since 1991. The engine was rebuilt near the end of 1969. This car belongs to my mother-in-law. She learned to drive with this car on their honeymoon in 1959. It was the family car until 1970 when they purchased a brand new 1969 Lincoln Continental (also for sale). My father-in-law passed away a little over a year ago, so we are selling the Edsel and the Lincoln. I believe the engine is a 361 or 360 cubic inch; I know Fords well, but not Edsels. The transmission is a 3 speed manual with overdrive. I was unable to get photos of the passenger side of the car since the tires were flat and it is 2 inches away from the garage wall. I would encourage anyone interested to come inspect the car first hand. The body is in excellent condition with minor surface discoloration; I won't call it surface rust. There is a small dent on the lower portion of the driver's side fender where it meets the door; it's a very easy fix. There is another small dent in the rear of the driver's side quarter panel where the rear bumper was pushed into the quarter. During the 1994 So. California earthquake, a box fell against the right taillight and broke the lens. There is no other damage as a result of the earthquake. I believe the right side of the car is in great shape. I could not see any damage, but again, I would strongly suggest that someone look at the car before the purchase. The hood ornament is partially broken; there is a circle around the "E" which is partially missing. All of the glass is good; the windshield was replaced once. My father-in-law owned an auto repair shop so this car was very well maintained. The 77,000 miles on the odometer are acutal; as I stated before, it has not been driven in 28 years. The car is very complete and has 2 sets of hubcaps not pictured here. There are a few extra spare parts. The only thing I could not find readily was the air cleaner; I am not sure where it is, but if it can be found it will go with the sale. You will need to bring a a trailer to take it home. Since it has been sitting so long, I would not trust being able to drive or stop it. It has the original "pink slip" title. I believe my mother-in-law has the original purchase agreement from new. Any and all paperwork/documentation goes with the car. The reserve is set low; please don't ask the amount. If you want to make an offer, it will be considered. $500.00 deposit due via PayPal within 48 hours of auction end. Balance is due within 7 days of auction end by cash or certified bank check or wire transfer . Pickup is sole responsibility of purchaser and arrangements need to be made in advance of pickup. Please email with any questions. Thanks for looking. THE CAR IS LOCATED IN THE SAN FERNANDO VALLEY AREA OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA (LOS ANGELES COUNTY), NOT DANVILLE. I FORGOT TO CHANGE ITEM LOCATION WHEN I ENTERED THE LISTING. SORRY!!On Mar-14-12 at 12:43:50 PDT, seller added the following information: Several folks have wanted the VIN information, so here it is. The VIN plate reads as follows: 1st Line-VIN#:W8RC703003. Second Line: 64A-2 door sedan, EEK-Frost White/Spring Green exterior, A-Green Cloth interior, 24J-September 24,1957 build date, trans code2-3 speed manual transmission with overdrive, D-3.89 to 1 rear axle ratio. I believe the car was built in San Jose, but it may have been Louisville; I'm not quite certain from the research I have done.
