Vehicle Detail
Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE 1957 Mercedes-Benz 190SL Chassis No. 7501366 Engine No. 7501374 · A beautiful matching numbers example of Mercedes classic 190SL roadster! · Beautiful new interior seats and carpeting, very presentable paint and chrome! · Strong mechanicals and nicely detailed engine bay, undercarriage, and trunk! · Complete with tool kit, jack and spare assembly, and original books! Finished in bright white paint over new (completed Jan 2012) gray upholstery and correct German square-weave carpeting, this 190sl Roadster presents itself nicely with some patina evident, which is very reasonable on such a car. The SL displays straight and even body fit throughout; the exterior paint appears to have been resprayed around 10 years ago along with a redip of the front and rear bumpers, guards and grill. The remaining chrome trim inside and out was left in its original condition, including the drivers mirror, license plate lights and Bosch headlight rings. Replacing the previous tired interior upholstery, the car’s seats, carpeting and safety belts were reupholstered and color-matched to the original dash pad and door panels. A proper fitting tonneau cover compliments the upholstery, while neatly covering the retracted canvas hood. The instrumentation also remains original to the Mercedes (with the exception of a Sunpro temp unit) as are the early plexi sun visors and laminated glass. The engine bay is neat, but does show age and minor surface corrosion typically found in the booster cavity. The battery box is solid and has been replaced – original heater boxes and washer bag remain in their proper locations. An additional feature of interest includes the upgraded Mikuni carburetors for added performance. The undercarriage and luggage compartment show no signs of corrosion and come fitted with all appropriate accessories - complete with tools, jack and spare assembly. A correct factory Becker Europa radio is included with the sale along with original owner's manual, service book, 1957 catalog "B" and plating warranty. This 190SL provides comfortable, modestly powered, luxurious cruising with excellent road manners and stylish good looks. Given its strong mechanicals and affordability in comparison to the 300SL, it’s well suited for continued driving and enjoyment.
