Vehicle Detail

This low mileage (18,740/Documented), pretty little red-headed princess has lived a pampered life the past four years on a golf course here in the beautiful Palm Springs area. Major service and refresh 1,400 miles ago by meticulous Ferrari specialists who take pride in their work (extensive documentation). ? Rosso Corsa red with Tan Leather interior. Removable targa top. ? New Seat Leather ? New Rear Tires (All tires are "Z" rated) ? Owner's Manual ? GTO-style chin spoiler, front bumper, driving lights, rear fog light, and streamlined side mirrors. ? Ferrari Logo Floor Mats ? Document Pouch (rare) ? Budge Car Cover You are not just buying a car. Rather, you are making an investment in a solid classic with a dollar that is losing value by the day. BACKGROUND I got the car a little over four years ago. I believe this has always been a California car and I am the third owner. The seat leather was cracked, the paint was dull, and the rear tires needed replacing. The engine was not greased up, started, and ran smoothly. But, not knowing the condition of the mechanicals, I played it safe and had the car trailered to a Ferrari specialist for a detailed inspection and evaluation. He told me it would be best to go through all the mechanical and electrical systems to ensure the car was properly sorted. Since this car did not have a service history, and I did not have the heart to let Enzo’s dream die, I decided to surface and correct any issues, and create a new service history. So, the car not only got a major service, but an overall mechanical refresh to ensure that the engine and other components would be strong and reliable. MECHANICAL "I don't sell cars, I sell engines. The cars I throw in for free since something has to hold the engine." - Enzo Ferrari When you are looking at a Ferrari, it is important to check for “major service." As was written in an eBay Ferrari Buying Guide: "A major service on a Ferrari V8 can easily run up to the $3-5K range - so you can see purchasing a major service is worth a small premium This car had a major service and mechanical refresh 1,400 miles ago (2/2008), by nationally-known and respected Ferrari specialists (Sports Cars Garage, Palm Desert, California). They have a deep knowledge of and commitment to precise and proper mechanical repairs. They are methodical, thorough, and meticulous. All work and re-assembly were unrushed and painstakingly done. All replacement parts are from Ferrari or are Ferrari-quality from U.S. sources. I have extensive invoice documentation for all parts and labor. Engine: The engine was completely disassembled down to the cams. No shortcuts were taken for the labor and parts required to ensure this car meets Ferrari build specs. The cams were polished and every out-of-spec part was replaced or rebuilt with new or recent NOS parts. All assembly and adjustment tolerances are to factory specs. This car does not burn oil or blow smoke. The head covers and all other exposed aluminum components were bead blasted for that fresh, "new" look. The intake plenum and throttle body were re-shot in red, wrinkle paint -- as originally finished at the factory. The engine compartment is clean. Transmission: The transmission did not require any repairs. A new clutch package was installed, the pressure plate was resurfaced, the gear box was inspected and cleaned, sealing surfaces were machined and polished, and seals were replaced. Suspension: Two new, Goodrich “Z”-rated tires (invoice will be provided with car) were installed at the rear; the fronts are Goodyear "Z"-rated. All tires have substantial remaining tread. The wheels are in nice shape with slight curb rash on right rear. The tires hold pressure just fine. Other Components: All belts, gaskets, seals, vacuum lines, and hoses (with the exception of two good silicone cooling hoses) were replaced with new. It got a new K&N air filter. Instruments all work and show well. The A/C and analog clock work. There are only two things I know of that don’t work: It has no antenna motor and the radio only shows the time. But with the sound the engine makes, who needs a radio? Lacks cats. Spare is puncture kit. Current California tag. ZFFLA13B000048901. MILEAGE It is difficult to prove mileage with these cars. When I got this car, it showed 28,248 on the odometer. However, after it came out of the shop, it surfaced that the speedometer did not work. The reason was that the speedometer electronic drive had failed. So, the speedometer, along with a new electronic drive, was sent to North Hollywood Speedometer -- a highly reputable and experienced shop here in California -- to be calibrated to the new drive. I was pleasantly surprised to be told that the odometer gears were European and had been registering Kilometers driven, not Miles. I asked that the European gears be replaced with gears that register miles, and that the odometer reading be converted to miles driven or 17,301. This is documented. COSMETICS This is a Euro-look car. It has the GTO-style deep chin spoiler, front bumper, driving lights, rear fog light, streamlined side mirrors, and Euro-style muffler with four exhaust tips. This is not a show car…but it looks great. I would call it a five-foot car. I took the refresh as far as I wanted and left room in the price for you to do cosmetics if you desire. Outside, the body is straight, panel fit and gaps are very good. The two previous owners told me the car had never been in an accident. It has a few minor dings as you might expect of a car this age. Overall, the paint is very presentable and glossy. It is shallowly keyed on the driver side and has some chips, checking, some cracks on nose and passenger door (pic shows nose). Targa top has area of surface discoloration. The windshield and glass are very good, as is the window trim. Inside, the dash is very good with no splits or tears. Very nice reupholstered leather seats have original headrests embossed with Ferrari logo. The console is reupholstered as well. Good original carpet, some discoloration of bulkhead from targa top storage. SUMMARY This car runs strong, handles crisply and precisely, and is a comfortable cruiser. It is well-sorted and roadworthy. I keep the maintenance up on it. It got an oil change in February 2012. Since I have had the car, it has always been garaged, never smoked in, and never driven in rain. So, if you want a mechanically superior car and can live with some minor cosmetic issues…this is it. The nice thing about buying this beauty is that I have already made sure it got the service and parts it needed to be a fun, reliable exotic...not a car that spends all its time in the shop. I am sure you will enjoy driving it as much as I have. Why wait? Since you have promised yourself a Ferrari, make your dream come true. Your heart will beat faster every time you look at it, you will love the smell of the leather and thrill to the sound of a four valve, fuel-injected V-8 that can hit 7700 rpm. Be among the few who know the mystique of a Ferrari. Nothing else looks, sounds, or handles like one, and nothing else attracts the attention a Ferrari attracts. So, if you have never owned a Ferrari, get this one. Become a member (a Tifoso) of an exclusive club in a car that says: “You have arrived.” Why sell? I have had fun with this great car, but I’m more into muscle cars and need room for other acquisitions. If a Ferrari is you, make this stunning red head yours! Come take a look…you will be impressed with its performance and appearance. E-mail or call me: 760-324-2817. Thank you. TERMS Serious bidders only.
