Vehicle Detail

American Motors really should have built this car! But they didn't, so I did! Thank you for your interest in my custom 1981 AMC Concord Sport Wagon. I started with an extremely solid Concord DL station wagon, which has been improved with the addition of Spirit AMX Turbocast II wheels, power bulge hood, black bumpers and headlight bezels, fender flares and front spoiler. A thick Hornet AMX steering wheel, AMC "Sport" badges and blacked out tail lights complete the look. I chose to use a model year correct Concord grille since the car is not an AMX. This Concord has always received good care, and except for the hood and flares it still retains all of its factory original paint and pinstripes. The underbody including the floor, subframes and rocker panels are very nice and rust free. Since most of the paint you see is 31 years old there are some minor dings and scratches as you would expect, and the newly painted parts are a shade off since the original paint had darkened a little. A complete repaint would make this a show car, but it still looks great as is. The driver's door hinges have been rebuilt and work like new. Mechanically the car is in good condition as well. With just over 108,000 miles the 258 engine still runs very well without excessive smoke or unusual noises. The engine does not leak any fluids and has never failed to start easily even after setting for several weeks at a time. On new years day there was no salt on the roads so I took the Concord to the local dragstrip and it ran flawlessly, but slow! LOL. Except for the exhaust being a bit loud and some typical leakage from the automatic transmission (especially in cold weather) this Concord is ready to roll. The brakes, battery, shocks, power steering, etc all seem fine. I have installed brand new rear springs from a V8 Pacer which gives the car a nice stance without having to use air shocks. The velour interior (with reclining front seats) is very clean with only minor flaws despite its age. As you might expect the headliner cloth had separated and was removed before I bought the car. However the backing board remains so it would be pretty easy to redo the headliner with new felt material. All of the glass is fine and all of the door handles and side windows work. When open the rear hatch stays up by itself and as far as I know all of the lights both inside and out are fully operational. Options on this Concord include cruise control and a rear window defroster although both appear to be inoperative. I have not even tried the air conditioning since I never really drove the car until January. It does have tilt wheel and the original AM/FM radio which both work fine. There is also a roof rack on top and stainless Ventshades for the side windows. The 235/60-14 rear tires are brand new with zero miles. The matching front tires are in very good condition. Included is the original owners manual and AMC warranty papers, although I wouldn't bother making a warranty claim even if you can find an AMC dealership! Being so rust-free this wagon would be an excellent candidate for a V8 conversion or drag car. Or just drive it as is and have something that nobody else has! Whatever your plans this is a car that never fails to attract attention! This Concord Sport Wagon is one of a kind and could not easily be duplicated. I hold a clear Ohio title to the car in my name. Car is offered AS IS with a very reasonable reserve. Once it is met full payment is due within one week of auction's end and will be deposited in my bank before the car or title transfer ownership. Pick up or delivery is the responsibility of the buyer although I will assist as much as possible. If you would like to inspect the car in person or have any questions please contact me well before the conclusion of the auction. I reserve the right to cancel this listing early for any reason without notice. Thank you for reading all of this and don't miss your opportunity to own the baddest looking wagon on eBay!!!
