VINTAGE 1951 Cadillac 4 door - Series 62 NEW UPDATE 2/21/12 8:30am ***** REDUCED STARTING PRICE FROM $1499 TO $1400 **** BID NOW BEFORE I CHANGE MY MIND! I love this car but I need room in the garage ASAP for a new project! PRICED CHEAP TO SELL RIGHT NOW TO HELP OFFSET ANY SHIPPING CHARGES SHOULD IT GO OUT OF CALIFORNIA - DON'T WAIT TO BID OR YOU'LL MISS OUT! LOOK AT THE OTHER GOING PRICES ON EBAY FOR SIMILAR CARS! This is a rather HUGE CAR easily holding 6 big fat adults comfortably in the 2 seats and probably 17 kids or so uncomfortably in the trunk! Google a 1951 Cadillac Series 62 to see the length, weight, height, HP etc. This car is not running and will need to be towed via flatbed. 10 years ago the 331 CID V8 motor started smoking white smoke (probably head gasket failure), single 2 barrel carb, 2 speed automatic worked perfectly, rear end made no noise. It does not have power steering nor does it have power brakes. While not running now, when it did it did however still drive like a Cadillac - quiet, easy and smooth as silk. There is a lot of cool old school technology in this car. The heat for the back seat is provided by a heater and fan supplied by water circulating through the engine! The door hinges are mounted at an angle so the outward edge of the door lifts slightly to avoid hitting curbs! The rear leaf springs have thin rubber sandwiched between them so they are quiet! 80K original miles. The car was originally 6 volt. A 12 volt generator, starter and coil were installed 10+ years ago. 4 new radial tires were installed 10 years ago. They still have no mileage on them. The 4 sombrero hubcaps are there but need replating. The car has PINK SLIP, KEYS and cool BLACK CA PLATES. Currently reg as non-op. The Caddy comes with original fender skirts, sun-visor, extra carb, some new SS trim, an extra horn ring, an extra instrument cluster, extra side molding etc. The car is rolling but partially disassembled (front bumper, trim, interior panels, dash pcs are off the car) - but all parts have been retained in the trunk and in boxes in the back seat. This car was left outside under a carport for years before I bought it (well over 10 years ago). It has lived in my garage ever since. I pulled the carpet out and it has rust on the floor. It has rust holes in the bottom of the trunk. It has one small spot at the back window that is rusted. It has typical surface rust on the body where the paint has worn off but it is otherwise solid. If you have ever restored a car or made a hot rod - then nothing that is wrong on this car should scare you off. It needs a complete ground up restoration and man it would be so worth it. Or just put it back together as is with a rebuild engine and just drive it! My original intention was to restore it and put air bags and a big block Cad engine in it. I have a new project now however and I need the room in my garage. My loss is your gain on this awesome beast of a car! One of the biggest car shows anywhere is the Goodguys Show. Out of the 1000's of cars at Goodguys - you will always find less then 5 Cadillacs from the early 1950's. They just don't exist anymore.
