Vehicle Detail

I bought this truck eight years ago from the original owner. It had about 80,000 miles on it then and was in perfect condition. The previous owner babied this truck, it was his weekend driver for many years, but had been in storage for two years before I bought it. The truck was his baby and was immaculate, he even had a custom bed cover made for it which is a black vinyl snap on cover, he had a red and white 3 foot ford emblem stitched onto it that is centered between the roll bars. The previous owner also added the chrome push bar aux head lights, and roll bar. I bought the truck and drove it as it was for a few years then decided the motor wasn't putting out enough power. I bought a remanufactured 400m long block from ford, added an rv cam, holley 570 street avenger carb, headers, Weiand intake manifold and a complete MSD ignition system including a probillet distributer, 6AL box, 8mm wires and accel plugs. I also removed the factory head gaskets and replaced them with mls gaskets from cometic and replaced the head bolts with heavy duty ARP head bolts. The factory radiator was replaced with an aluminum one from Becool and I installed the highest flow electric engine fan I could find. I did all of this myself and at about 103,000 miles. I had the truck painted two years ago, I used the factory red color and replaced the factory cream color with lincoln pearl white. It has the factory paint scheme and orignial chrome racetrack side trim. I added the mud flaps right after the paint job because I used to live on a dirt road and wanted to protect the paint. This truck is in excelent condition and I have taken very good care of it the oil has been changed more than regularly and I keep the interior and exterior clean. The truck has 3.50 gears and has 31" tires with most of their tread left. I have also added a procharger D1 supercharger to the truck. It was a long process to make work because procharger doesn't make brackets to bolt their head unit to a M block. So I had to fab an adapter block to connect the 302 procharger bracket to my 400 head. I constructed it from heavy steel I think I used 1/2" plate, cant really remember, anyway it is more than strong enough. I used the crank pulley that came with the 302 kit. For the fuel system I had a custom blow through carb built tor my motor by Pro Systems, the fuel pump is an aeromotive A100 pump and carb fuel regulator. The installation instructions said it was best to use a sumped tank to feed the pump if it was going to be used on the street. So, I used an old pickup propane tank that I had on hand instead of a fuel cell because I wanted more than a 20 gallon capacity if I was going through the trouble. I shortened the 100 gallon propane tank to hold 40 gallons and fit in the bed between the roll bars. The inside of the tank was sandblasted then coated with POR 15 fuel tank sealer so it wouldnt rust. When I finally got everything together it worked great except the primaries on the carb were too rich. I got it leaned out to where I think is pretty close to right. Then I drove the truck about 100 miles to see what kind of mileage it got. I used mostly secondary roads through a few little towns and the truck averaged 10.8 mpg. I think that the truck could do a little better because I was enjoying the new power a little. It is a completely different truck than before the charger, I dont know exactly how much boost it will make but it did make 5psi and I didn't let it get over 3000 rpm. The techs at procharger say it should make between 10 and 12 but they didn't have much experience with a ford 400. I haven't driven it since that trip except to its storage unit and then onto a trailer, but it is only because I don't have time, I think the truck is reliable and wouldn't be afrait to drive it anywhere you could afford the gas. I also have an intercooler that I recently bought for the truck that I have not yet insalled but could before the truck is picked up. The last few months it has been in storage because I have been traveling for work and I have moved. I am selling it because I dont really have room or a need for the truck, it has been my pride and joy for quite a while but I just don't have room for it anymore. If the new owner doesn't want the supercharger setup I could remove everything and have the truck back to stock in about a day. If you have any questions about it feel free to call me I have a lot of spare parts and accessories for the truck that will go with it.
