Vehicle Detail
True 1971 Split Bumper Rally Sport with the Z/28 option Camaro. Rebuilt 350 LT-1 non rust chasis, body and frame. I will explain the cars history in two parts. Not too many people know this fact about California Cars. Hence why some collectors seek California Cars for License plates, history, or the uniqueness of California produced muscle cars. The trim tag code for Los Angeles indicated with an "L" designating the car was put together in Van Nuys. Now for those of you "internet" researchers...i recommend looking into a library or purchase proper written material when identifying "RPO" codes. Los Angeles cars are unique and as follows the car decodes to "09B" meaning second week of September indicating this was a very early manufactured 71. Please understand that Chevrolet was on strike in 1970 and thus the 1970 AND a Half and 1971 bodies were sitting in GM plants waiting to be assembled..."NOR" or Norwood stamped tags indicated "Z28" with a two digit code in the hundredths and tenths place for instance "Z28.10" indicating an RPO Z28 Camaro Z28, 360hp 350cid engine with white hood and deck lid stripes...such that there were decimals from Z28, Z28.10, Z28.11, and Z28.19...indicating certain extra options...Anyways, this Z/28 has quite the history for being a unique build. The Interior code "786" indicates a "Dark Blue Custom Cloth Bucket Seats" ...This Z28 had Custom electric windows which was a luxury option for Rally Sports. Well...since this Z28 is a California assembled it had no such "z28" stamp/or Trim Indication. What OTHER indicators can be identified for Z28?Here are the original factors the car has. 1. Rear Bumper Guards 2. stamped "307" motor mounts which these motor mounts are only particular to Z28s due to the factory aluminum intake manifold that was a mid-rise3. 3/8" fuel line4. factory Z28 Badge holes that are clearly not drilled like some idiots do making a clone. 5. Big ass Foot peddle, these came from the Chevelle and Corvette line (please be aware that the LT1 came from the Corvette)6. Holley 780 Double Pumper from the factory (which is currently stored away and I have it)7. Interior 6500 Redline Tachometer8. and of course the internal components of the motor itself. Forge Steel Crank, Pistons, and 2.02 Camel Hump Heads with push rod guide plates and .458 solid lifter cam . 9. Corvette LT-1 low rise Aluminum Valve Covers ( which I have but not shown in picture because I am running big ass rockers,...yes I could run spacers for the LT1 valve covers but I never got around to it :)10. I do have the build sheet which i found under the glove box...its really badly deteriorated but it will come with the car. 11. Obviously Hood stripes and Original Paint which was untouched before rebuild12. The Rally Rims Below are personal minor mods I put in for the car to justify the Z28 Build. 1. Forged Pistons and Rods2. Forged Crank (original with motor)3. the 3970010 block is a 4 Bolt Main 4. The money are in the heads and ran me 1000 dollars for complete rebuild with .600 Lift springs, guide plates and Competition 1.6 roller rockers. As a result of the heavy rockers the corvette valve covers would touch the top of the rockers therefore, in the picture those are aftermarket valve covers. 5. LT1 Solid Lifter Camshaft6. New paint job using correct Dupont Paint Code26- Mulsane BlueWA406922135327L, 5327D7. All the chrome on the car was NOT replaced but sent to a polishing and re-chrome tech in Pomona Valley, California. 8. Headers currently installed, stock exhaust GM manifolds I have. 9. 750 Double Pumper (780 in storage)10. All new 3/8" fuel lines11. All new brake lines, booster and vaccum fittings12. Factory Disc Brakes13. Factory 8.5" 10 Bolt Rear End with 3.42s14. Matching Number M-20 rebuilt Muncie cost me $750 to rebuild15. Replaced the ugly Vinyl Roof ( no rust underneath) 16. Replaced Electrical Harness (Interior) 17. New OEM Rubber Bushings uppper/lower control arms, suspension, idle arm, sway bar bushings. All those have been replaced. **the motor and redone drivetrain have about 1200 miles** Its stored in a garage. Flaws**1. OEM parts do not sell the door panels for this trim code. 2. Driver side interior door line-crack (see photo) The car is a turn-key and about 90 percent restored. Please feel free to contact me 909 248 8909. My name is Ryan and owned the car since for over 10 years. ** I am open to trade for 2007-2011 Toyota Tacoma 4x4, Nissan Frontier Nismo, or Colorado Z71. Buyer to send paypal deposit of $1200, or work out something over the phone.
