Vehicle Detail
That 70's Car... NO RESERVE. One of GM's last enormous land-yacht coupes, this Toronado Brougham is often mistaken for an Eldorado or Riviera despite it's own quirky styling cues. This vehicle starts right up and runs like a top. Drives & handles extremely well. For that reason and the good condition of the brake & gas pedals, it is not clear if the 49191 miles on the odometer is accurate. My mechanic said it might be, but the 34 year old body & interior blemishes may tell another story. The condition is 'fair' for a 34 year old car... it is not a show car, but it could be with some expense. The body is very straight. It appears to have a repaint and could use another one. Chips, nicks, small rust spots, cracked plastic trim around the opera windows, loose plastic trim around rear window, no visible rips or tears on upholstery but has a couple loose buttons. Door panels have been reupholstered on lower half. Stain (tree sap?) on the padded landau top, etc. etc. The dash pad has several cracks. Power windows & locks work, power seat works but sticks, a/c not blowing cold, 8-track player not working. Trunk very clean but has a rusty area under the mat. Glass is all good except for hard-water sprinkler spots on drivers side. Realistically, this is an inexpensive fun project car for a 70's enthusiast...someone who wants to join the Toronado Owners Club (very cool newsletters... I will include the ones I can find in the sale.) Probably not a great daily driver for a teenager, as this is not a fuel-efficient vehicle. The CA tags expired 8/10 with $401 to bring current in CA. The car will smog, but with some difficulty. I purchased this car for $1500 in 2007, have clear title, records & receipts since purchased. Note: This vehicle is for sale outside of CA. Consider this a project car-non operating vehicle although, as I said it starts right up and runs great. Easy to arrange shipment from Palm Springs to wherever. I reserve the right to cancel the auction at any time for any reason, end auction early. The vehicle is being sold as-is with no warranties expressed or implied regarding the vehicle condition or fees necessary to register. I have tried to post accurate condition photos... will be happy to supply more photos if you send me a message. New battery just installed. On Feb-04-12 at 11:00:34 PST, seller added the following information: IMPORTANT - ALL BIDDERS PLEASE READ: IF YOU ARE A CALIFORNIA BUYER AND INTEND TO REGISTER & DRIVE THIS VEHICLE IN CALIFORNIA, YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL DMV FEES, PENALTIES, & BACK REGISTRATION. NO REPRESENTATIONS ARE BEING MADE AS TO ROADWORTHINESS/LEGALITY OF DRIVING THE VEHICLE IN CALIFORNIA. WHATEVER STATE YOU ARE FROM IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO VERIFY WITH YOUR MOTOR VEHICLE DEPARTMENT WHAT FEES YOU NEED TO PAY TO REGISTER, AND WHETHER OR NOT A SMOG CERT. IS REQUIRED. (IN CA A SMOG IS REQUIRED) I HAVE NO IDEA IF THIS CAR WILL PASS A SMOG, AND AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR SMOG OR REGISTRATION ISSUES. I AM CONVEYING A CLEAR VEHICLE TITLE AND THIS PROJECT CAR - THAT'S IT. DO NOT BID ON THE VEHICLE UNLESS YOU KNOW THE REGISTRATION RULES FOR YOUR STATE AND ARE PREPARED TO HANDLE IT. THANK YOU!
