(CHX309) as i understand it the personalized plates on this vehicle belong to me / the owner of record and cannot be included with the vehicle, i guess we could figure out a way to transfer them if the car stays in california ? what this car needs: during the process of building this car i spent a lot of money and time detailing the engine and chassis, underside of the body and the underside of the dash. if i didn’t like something i worked on it or changed it until i was satisfied. i am not going to say it is perfect because i believe things can always be improved. i always have a list of things i would do to make it even better. here is my list adjust / clearance shifter, sometimes it is a little flakey when manually shifting to first gear fix the steering box leak, although i used new gaskets, seals, bearings and worm + pinion the frigging thing leaks and makes me nuts ! install another copper tube for the choke and wrap it around the headers in a clean way install stock distributor/spark plug wire cover (i would modify a reproduction unit) when 2 heavy people are in the car the rear tires rub when you jump on it i would put a bolt on willwood disk brake conversion kit and slightly narrower tires. it needs new windshield washer fittings and a new bag the primary lead going to the starter has a really small connector that i hate ! i would change it from slip on to a screw on unit. it shook loose once and i had to delicately slip my hand around the hot headers and slip it back on. the battery may need replacing, i let a friend jump his car from mine and for whatever reason it seems like my battery has never been the same..... the body has one tear on the left rear fender, i have a piece of tape over it with the words bad boo boo, i would have that fixed at a minimum. i would rebuild the doors and readjust the windshield, it is not perfectly aligned originally i was going to shorten the steering column 2 inches to give me more room, i am 6’1” with long legs and long arms and i need as much room as possible. i was going to buy an extra unit and modify it. i have tons of parts and extra items that go with the car. why am i selling: divorce forces sale. i have 2 kids in college contact information: doron dreksler : cell phone: 707-479-1178 email: dorondesign@mac.com additional information: the car is located in plymouth california (south east of sacramento about 35 minutes). the engine and transmission and many boxes of parts are in my storage shed in healdsburg (north of san francisco). i will make sure everything is in plymouth at the time of pick-up. i can answer any questions, comments or concerns or take additional pictures as required. feel free to email me and set up a time to go see the car. On Jan-19-12 at 09:13:53 PST, seller added the following information: 1) i did all of the work on the car with the exception of rebuilding the rear end, building the driveshaft, powder coating and the machine work on the engine. the original engine is totally rebuilt blueprinted to factory spec, it is all original and everything is numbers matching except the rear carburetor, and the left exhaust manifold.2) i have a lot of money wrapped up in this project. all the chevy parts go with this car. i have lots of parts, i have tons of receipts, believe me, corvette central as well as lots of other corvette suppliers know this car well. 3) this car runs and drives excellent. it handles really well, and drives straight and true and everything works except the power top. i would have no problem driving it anywhere.4) the car has one a couple awards for the interior as well as the engine compartment. the body is original as i bought it.5) the car actually gets amazing gas mileage because of the 700-R4 trans built by bowtie and modified by me. On Jan-19-12 at 21:35:02 PST, seller added the following information: several of you have asked about the history of the car:1) i have a list of the last 3 owners with phone numbers. the guy i bought it from had it for 23 years and lived in gainesville florida. prior to that the car was in gorgia for 8 years and he purchased the car from a guy in the service that possibly auto crossed the car as he remembered.2) when i gutted the interior i discovered that the car had had some sort of roll bar mounted but i never found any other indication of any sort of racing modifications. 3) if you look in nolan adams corvette book (the complete corvette restoration and technical guide, vol.1: 1953 through 1962) you will find a picture of a 1956 corvette coming off the assembly line. the caption says something about it being built for a general motors executive i believe the car is either car number 3844 or 3846, either way that car is the car before or after this car on the assembly line. that puts the "birthdate" of this car (car no.3845) at around monday, august 6, 1956, which makes this a pretty late 1956 corvette. my mom reminded me that elvis presley was born on that day. On Jan-20-12 at 12:49:25 PST, seller added the following information: regarding the shifter: i did not drill one hole or modify anything original to the car to install the shifter.i used to fabricated plates on top and below the shifter opening with thick rubber gasket material to protect the original shifter bezel.i then bolted them together and bolted the shifter mounting bracket to the assembly.i added a hole for the shifter cable and routed a 8 ft shifter cable as smooth as possible to the 700R-4 trans and looped it under the drivers seat and into the shifter.i originally used a modified reproduction shifter to control the transmission in order to make everything look stock.then i had the car in a parade and i had 3 people in the car and someone accidentally hit the shifter and pushed it into reverse....so i decided to put a shifter with a solid reverse lock out. i think i went overboard but it works great and gets that all important scratch in every gear. On Jan-22-12 at 13:44:58 PST, seller added the following information: 2 questions have been emailed to me today: 1) regarding the suspension: i rebuilt every portion using new parts. (i have all original parts) the front sway bar is a 7/8" unit and i added a rear 1/2" unit (i have the original parts) i also change the rear leaf springs, first to a remanufactured stock multi-leaf unit and then to a mono-leaf setup. (i have the original springs plus the replacement units). this car handles well and is a blast to drive. 2) ALL THE ORIGINAL PARTS, EXTRA PARTS, RECEIPTS, MISC OLD CHEVY PARTS, ORIGNAL ENGINE, TRANSMISSION ARE PART OF THIS SALE. THIS CAR WAS VERY COMPLETE AND LOOKED TO BE ORIGINAL. EVERYTHING I BOUGHT TO COMPLETE, DEVELOP AND PLAY WITH WILL BE SOLD WITH THIS CAR.
