Vehicle Detail

Selling my 1970 Earlybay Walk-thru Volkswagen Pop-top Camper Bus. Sorry about the pictures as it started to snow as I went to take them. You can even see some flakes falling in the pictures. Well preserved Volkswagen Camper Bus looking for a new home. The bus was built in Germany in May of 1970 and the Riviera camper installation was completed in June. Arguably the best year of the VW Bus as it maintains the easy to service Type 1 upright 1600cc dual-port engine with the updated Bay Window body. The van runs and drives well with its 1600cc engine. Picture of engine was taken when it was running and there is a picture taken from the driver's seat as it moves along down the road. It runs well at all speeds and in all gears. The lights and horn work, but the blinkers are on the fritz - which I suspect it just needs a new flasher relay. I have ordered the part and will be happy to pass it on to the new owner. It has a brand new battery and nice new tires (all 5). Rear bumper is custom. The car is very solid and as for rust I took a picture of the front floor under the mat so you can see it isn't bad - some surface corrosin, but solid without typical holes or patches. Even the rockers are rock solid. Minor dent on right front below headlight and above blinker - hard to notice. In a few other areas there are small spots of bubbles, but really a nice solid West Coast Oregon bus. Even the battery tray is solid - a real rarity on an old VW. Mileage showing on the odometer is 40,736, but due to its age it will have to be sold as exempt mileage. The fridge works. Has a 120V power outlet on driver's side for when you are camping. The radio is more of a decoration piece and is just cassette which I use to hold my phone. The interior is in surprisingly good shape. The front seats have covers because they had wear on the bottom cushion covers. The rear seat folds in to a bed and the covers are decent. The exception is the rear hatch area cushion's cover can use replacing. The tent pops up. Has sleeping for two in the upper bunk and two snuggled down below. Has curtains, a closet and storage cabinets. There is also a jump seat in back so there is seating for five. It was snowing so I almost didn't pop open the top - anyway the tent is older and could use replacing soon as the front zipper is separated - could possibly be sewn, which I don't do. I seem to have seen replacements from about only $199. The van has had what appears to me to be only one repaint. The color is a light reddish color and is in pretty good shape. Probably worth over $7900, but I'll take what the auction brings. Vehicle is sold where is and as is. You may check out the vehicle in person. It is located in the Boise, Idaho area. Willing to work with your shipper if needed. Or add $500 at check out if you want delivery (shipping) within 600 miles. Thank you for looking. On Jan-30-12 at 07:56:26 PST, seller added the following information: Yes, the engine is the better Dual-port or Twin-port engine, as opposed to the earlier single-port version.
