Vehicle Detail

Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 1971 Alfa Romeo GTV 1750 Coupe. Moving and listing my Alfa project car to see if it’s worth selling or taking with me. I purchased this car out of New Mexico last year from a person that was going to convert it to a track car. Since then I have purchased most of the missing interior parts and sanded down the body to check for any hidden damage (the car had four coats of paint on it when I got it). The previous owner installed rebuilt 2.0 liter engine with ported and polished head, oversized valves and a mild performance cam. He also had the suspension lowered and installed yellow Konis springs. CAR INFORMATION: Chassis number AR1532582. 1971 Alfa Romeo 1750 GT Veloce USA (105.51). Body Color AR-509 Amaranth Red with Boar Leather Tex Interior. BODY CONDITION: Coming from New Mexico this car has hardly any rust on the body shell including the rockers and wheel wells. The first thing I did was to put the car on blocks and completely sand it down to either bare metal or the original paint. What I found was a car almost rust free with the following exceptions; a tiny area on the left side rear quarter, floor boards had moderate rust and evidence that the overtime that car had minor collision damage repaired. I have welded patches on the floor boards and treated them with por15, I'm not a great welder but they are solid and good for a driver. The trunk also had some rust issues that were also addressed. At some point the nose of the car had been repaired as evidenced by the body filler that was present after sanding, doesn’t look like it was major damage. I purchased a perfect hood that is rust and filler free that is included. The left rear quarter had some recent damage from tree limb according to the previous owner, and he had a body guy bang it out to reshape it. This area will need to be finished and filled for repainting. The trunk lid had the emblem holes filled which I re-opened and it has a small dent in it. The driver’s side door had a small dent repaired. I primed and painted the jambs, engine compartment (engine was not removed) and the trunk. Painted in Amaranth Red using base coat clear coat. My intension was to have the rest of the car professionally painted. All glass is good including a new windshield purchased by the previous owner. ENGINE: The previous owner installed rebuilt 2.0 liter engine with ported and polished head, oversized valves and a mild performance cam with a few thousand miles since rebuild. This work was done years ago and when I purchased the car the radiator was out and all the wiring was disconnected as he was in the middle of his track car conversion. I had to take him at his word, the engine and chassis work was performed at Performance Imports in Albuquerque, NM. After repainting the engine compartment I got the engine wired up, reinstalled the cooling system with new hoses, installed new belts and filters, cleaned out the fuel tank and installed a new battery in the trunk. The motor fired up but ran rough. I then checked and adjusted the valve clearances, it ran better but not perfect. This is a Spica fuel injected engine and it probably needs to service by an Alfa tech. There is no smell of fuel in the oil so I think the fuel injection system is sound. INTERIOR: Seats will need to be re-upholstered. No door panels (home-made panels came with car). Console will need refinishing. Carpet decent but I planned on replacing. Dash will need refinishing. Basically the whole interior will need refinishing. SUSPENSION & Misc.: The suspension has been lowered and yellow Konis springs have been installed. Master cylinder, front calipers and pads had been replaced by previous owner. He also installed a Magnaflow exhaust system. I picked this car up because I liked the body lines. This is the first Italian (or foreign) car that I have worked on and I impressed by the engineering. This will make a great project as these cars are very hard to find without spending an arm and a leg. Most un-restored Alfa GTVs are rust buckets; this one is very solid and will make a great restoration project. I have detailed the condition of this car to the best of my knowledge, keep in mind that I may have missed something. Please ask questions prior to bidding and bid to own the car. The car is available for inspection during the auction, email me for an appointment to inspect it. After the auction closes the high bidder owns it. Transportation arrangements should be made for a non-running car. The car has a clear signed title from the previous owner in hand. Good Luck Bidding.
