Vehicle Detail
So, I bought this car from my uncle last summer, who has taken up an interest in 4-wheeling over highway touring... Anyway, he took meticulous care of this car since purchasing as a lease vehicle in 1993. He had a hydraulic lift in his garage where he kept it, and all the work done at a local Porsche certified shop in Salt Lake. My uncle was in the process of fully restoring the car when he decided to sell it, meaning there is over $25,000.00 of receipts in the glove box, including:new clutchrebuilt transmissionshort throw gear box and shifternew leather dashboardrebuilt engine top end (including polished intake - looks awesome under the hood)sunroof motornew air conditioning compressor (I had this done in August at Formula Motorsports in NYC - $2000 bucks)The only thing that wasn't working when I bought it was the passenger power seat, which I have since fixed. The passenger window switch is sticky, could be replaced, and the sunroof switch should be replaced too since it's not working. This is easy to do. I think it could use new shocks maybe too, but what do I know. I bought this car and drove it from Salt Lake City to LA, where I picked up an old friend and we drove it all the way up Highway 1, across Oregon to Highway 12 over Lolo pass into Montana where I dropped him off and continued through North Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin, over the Upper Penninsula, down through Michigan to Motor City, then straight across to New York City. The car performed with NO PROBLEMS (except needing to clean bugs out of the air filter in North Dakota haha). The guys at the shop here were blown away and said it was an incredible example of an '88 928, regardless of the miles and remarked that the car has obviously been well cared for. So why am I selling it? I bought it against the advice of my wife, with whom we just had our second child. The car sits in a secured parking garage in Manhattan and almost NEVER gets driven. I have little justification for keeping it other than I always wanted it, ever since I first saw it in my uncles garage... And that doesn't hold a lot of water with my wife. Plus, honestly, I never drive it, NYC isn't Utah where you can just go blast some mountain highways at 120mph and live the dream. I got it to 150mph in the Nevada desert. I'm good. Great car, fair price, will ship. On Dec-11-11 at 20:40:58 PST, seller added the following information: for all the people that have been asking... with all the other work done, the timing belt was also replaced in 2006.
