Custom 1956 Studebaker 2E Pickup V8 700R4 Automatic Be sure and follow the more pictures link at the end of this write up. As some of you may know, I find nice Studebakers around the country, and find new homes for them on ebay. In this case, I'm helping Pat, a friend and Studebaker collector sell off part of his collection. Any questions about the truck should be directed to him at pat@drnec.com This truck is Pat's running, driving work in progress. Much has been done, but it could still use some minor items like interior carpet and headliner. The truck has a strong running Studebaker 259 cu. in. engine with a new Edelbrock 1406 carburetor installed. The engine was rebuilt a few years back, and has only a few thousand miles on it. The transmission is a recently rebuilt GM 700R4 with the overdrive top gear, using a Steeltech conversion. The brakes have been upgraded to Turner disk brakes on all four wheels and using a dual master cylinder conversion. The rear end is a Ford 9 inch with new shocks and rebuilt springs. The upgraded brakes and overdrive make the truck a safe driver at freeway speeds, but it still is a 50 year old truck, and does not ride as smoothly as a modern example. The truck has a recent paint job in matte black over a very solid body. The body work makes the truck a "10 footer", it took care of any dents, but not every minor flaw that might be seen close up. The truck started out as a solid, nearly rust free west coast example so the body work was mainly dent repair. The front end has been completely rebuilt, and a custom 20 gallon fuel tank has been installed. A new B&M shifter comes with the truck, but Pat did not get around to installing it. He did install all new VDO gauges including a programmable speedometer and a Kenwood stereo. The cab has been fully lined with sound and heat insulation matting, but still needs carpeting added. The seats are Fiat buckets in good condition. The truck is protected by a new alarm system and all the new gauges work fine with all new wiring. The column shifter should be upgraded with the new B&M unit that goes with the truck since it does not have enough travel to allow a manual downshift to the low range Its been a driven that way for a few years, but the B&M shifter should be installed when the new owner adds carpets. Pat did not get around to making it pretty under the hood, but he did spend a great deal of money on upgrades. The truck has a new 2 inch exhaust system, a GM single wire alternator, and a Griffin 4 row aluminum radiator with electric fan. Wheels are 5X5 Chevy bolt pattern Tahoe wheels. Pat's reserve is well under even just the cost of all the upgrades not to mention the expense of buying a solid truck to restore. More and bigger pictures here Any questions ?
