Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is my super rare 1972 Factory Sunroof Lincoln Mark IV. It is showing 61K miles which I fully believe to be original. It most likely will be sold exempt. All black with a beautiful red leather interior. All options except auto headlight dimmer. Runs and drives great. The only issues are that the heater core has recently begun to give problems as there is a light amount of mist coming from the vents when the heat is on. I will try to have this repaired before auction end. The brakes also do not feel exactly correct. I have put a new booster, pads and master cylinder on. The Suretrack light comes on sometimes and it may be due to that. The car does however stop with no issue as I drive it regularly. It does have a new aftermarket Carb on it because period ones gave too many problems. It runs on regular petro with no issue but I prefer to use premium. The interior is in fantastic shape for the age. Although not perfect it is outstanding for a 40 year old car. The seats are in excellent condition but are missing about half dozen of the button inserts, typical. The door panels are in great shape but the armrest bases have the typical hairline cracks. The pads are not cracked at all although the driver side does have a small burn as pictured. I do not believe it is from a cigarette. The carpets are in great shape without excess wear or any stains. The dash has no cracks and all the wood trim is excellent. The steering wheel does have one crack as pictured. The only issue with the headliner is that the material has come unglued at the back of the sunroof where it slides back and forth. It simply needs to be glued again. The exterior is in very good shape, again for the age. It does have the typical bubbles under the roof material as pictured but all is solid. The only rust on the body is minor and surface only from what I can tell, very solid. Of course it has a few minor dings here and there but no dents. There is damage to the driver chrome wheel trim as pictured caused by a recent storm. I have the nos trim to replace it and it will be included if the Buy It Now is met. All other chrome is in good shape. All glass is great. The undercarriage has the typical dusting of surface rust but all is solid with no rot. It will need paint to be perfect but I never got to it. The standard 460 starts and runs as only one of those can. It is smooth and quiet. The standard C6 transmission performs flawlessly. The tires are near new. All options work down to the huge factory sunroof and factory Speed Control and Rim Blow Horn. Even the rare-for-then electric rear window defrost works as well as all four windows and both seats. The original electric door locks work perfectly. Even the auto parking brake release works. I had a new air conditioner compressor put on this past summer and the air worked throughout the summer. The original factory power antenna works flawlessly. I have enjoyed all the attention I continue to get driving this beautiful piece of history but no longer have time to drive it. With little attention it will be stunning. This car is fully drivable and has been maintained but is 40 years old and it is winter. I would advise trailering it to any distant location of 600 or more miles. This was my weekly driver and I prefer it go to someone who has the time to make it the stunning beauty it was. Please ask any questions you may have before bidding. Remember, this is a 40 year old car and will not appear as a new car. Although, again, it is a very nice 40 year old car. I have to sell this car "as is with no warranty". High bidder is required to make contact me within 24 hours of the end of the auction. $500 deposit (cashier's check or money order) is required within 2 days of the end of the auction with the remaining balance due 4 days thereafter. If the high bidder does not satisfy the balance in the alotted time period and does not make prior arrangements, the $500 deposit is non-refundable and I reserve the right, at that point, to offer the vehicle to the second highest bidder. If I do not hear from the high bidder within 48 hours from the end of the auction, I reserve the right to offer/sell the car to the second highest bidder. Zero feedback bidders are welcome, but please contact me prior to bidding. I reserve the right to cancel zero feedback bids that have not done this. Please keep this in mind if you are a "last minute" bidder. This vehicle is listed for sale locally for $4800. We reserve the right to end this auction early if the reserve has not been met and it sells locally. However, once the reserve is met on the Ebay auction we will pull it from the lot. I have set the reserve at $3500. Please note that I will not end this auction early except under the circumstances listed above. Ending an auction early when the reserve has been met is unfair to the other bidders and, quite frankly, downright unethical. We would be happy to pick up the winning bidder at the local airport (Greenville Spartanburg International Airport), the local train station, or the local Greyhound station. I do not pad our prices with any "documentation" fees like so many other car dealers on Ebay do. Contrary to what many dealers will say it really doesn't cost much to fill out a couple of papers. SC buyers will need to pay standard taxes (sales and property when applicable). I can also help out of state buyers get a South Carolina temporary/vehicle in transit tag ($20). Finally, SHIPPING...we do not ship cars ourselves. However, we will be happy to work with your shipper any way we can.
