Vehicle Detail
I bought this '86 CJ 7 2 1/2 years ago and have replaced virtually everything under the hood: new alternator, new fuel pump, a rebuilt '89 inline-6, the carburator was rebuilt at a specialty shop in Escondido so that it passes CA smog (street legal). IT RUNS and IDLES GREAT!! If you know Jeep, the '86 was the last of the "built for war" Jeeps. It has the Dana front and rear end in it (30 & 44). The transmission is the T4 or T18, I can't remember which, and I personally don't know the difference--it's a 4-speed, and the 4-wheel-drive works great. I've added the rear two hitch. It has a 3/1 light connection. The Jeep is tan with tan interior (black front seats with covers and a grey rear seat). I have soft doors (half & windows) and a bikini top--all new (black). The four main tires are 2 years old. The rear spare is less than 8 months old. All the tread left on all 5 as I only drive this around our town (although I've driven it to LA and SD--1 hour away). I also put in a new carpet kit, a 10-inch Tuffy security box, Alpine stereo, Rockford Fosgate truck speakers, and custom stone shift knobs. See the pics--currently decorated for Christmas. I keep it garaged, and the times I drive it to work (5 miles), I park it in a parking garage. I've sunk $9,500 into it over the past couple of years (it would've been less had I done the work myself). If I were to keep it, here are a couple of things that could be done to it: New seat covers Rhilo-liner or Linex the fenders Thanks for looking. Contact me with any questions or if you'd like to drive it.On Dec-29-11 at 07:46:25 PST, seller added the following information: NOTE added on 12/29-- I was re-reading my write-up and realized that I omitted the fact that I replaced the clutch, pressure plate, and fly-wheel when I replaced the motor 2 years ago. Also, the mileage is 113,000 instead of 110,000. I have taken additional pics of wheel wells, engine compartment, rear door seal, floor boards. If you'd like to see them, just send me a request (17 pics).
