These cars are getting very hard to find in this condition since they were only sold in the US for two years, 1973 and 1974, 38 years ago. This car is very clean and original. Title is clear, clean and in my name, the same key works everything, engine compartment, ignition and door locks. Everything works in the car, lights wipers, horn, special clock (very rare option). It does have the original gas heater, which is 100% original and complete but last night I started the car and put the heater on, for some reason it did not fire, I'm not sure why but I am sure it is a very minor problem and I will look in to it, the heater has always worked, but I can not say the heater works at this time. Please note that the undercarriage and interior floor pans have the original factory finish on them, there is no paint to cover any defects and there are none, this car is as original with no rust as you can find. Tires are Bridgestone Dueler APT lll 225/70/14 98S with less than 500 miles on them, engine is new not rebuilt from Gemvw.com and now has a little more than 7500 miles on it which means it is almost broke in, it is a 2110cc motor, that has approximately 140 hp with dual 44 Solex Kadron carbs, transmission is a rebuilt freeway flyer from a super beatle, Special clutch kit with 6 cush lock disc, 200 psi oil hoses, Bosch plug wires, motor has added options of: dual racing valve springs (USA) with Chromoly retainers, Chromoly push rods, original factory exhaust, full flow cover and machining, Machine in sand seal and degree pulley, Dog House cooler kit, New oil cooler special 72 plate with electric fan, total cost on the motor only not including instilation or the transmission was $4852.00. Along with this car comes the Original 1600cc motor, approximately 76 hp, Original transmission and many additional parts. This car does not leak, smoke or use any oil, and that is also true with the included original engine and transmission. You can drive this car anywhere. Please note the custom light in the engine compartment, nice option that you will not see on any other VW Thing. Also included is the full boot with protection blocks to be used when the top is down so it is covered, side curtain bags to be used when the side curtains are not being used, manuals, much literature pertinent to the VW Thing and receipts. I just had a full service done to the car, oil changed, valves adjusted, breaks checked and it is ready to go. A restored VW Thing sold at Barrett-Jackson Auction House last year for $41,800.00, so I would say this is a sound investment and a very nice piece of history.
