I purchased this Ghia in 2006 hoping to restore it to showroom condition. Unfortunately life has gotten in the way and I Haven't had the time and resources that I once had. I know someone of skill can make this car shine and so with a great deal of reluctance I would like to pass it on to someone who can give it the treatment that I cannot. This 62' Karmann Ghia coupe is in very good condition and would make a great candidate for restoration. The body is solid and sound with only a slight dent in the front drivers fender right by the light ring which is also bent slightly. "Karmann Ghia" side plates in good shape and script on engine hood is all present, although in need of new chrome.The interior is in decent shape although the foam in the seats is wearing a little thin these days. Gauges and signals work fine. Mechanically this car is in great shape. Starts up every time and drives like a champ. Even this morning at 23 degrees out it started up with almost no fussing. Accelerates steadily and shifts well. Known issues: The brake lights did not work last time that I took it out. I have not had time to spend looking into the problem, but I would guess it is either a fuse or the switch under the pedal is bad. Rear passenger side tire has a bad seal to the rim and needs to be reseated. The tire loses air very slowly and I fill it about once a month. With the brake lights working properly I would have no problem using this sweet little Ghia as a daily driver.
