BEAUTIFUL CLASSIC CAR FOR SALE: Gorgeous 1951 Chevy Deluxe. 2 DOOR HARDTOP!! I am selling my Chevy Deluxe, and as you can see from the photos ... she is a real beauty! I hate to part with her, but I am currently live in San Francisco, and don't foresee bringing her out here from Texas to battle the hills and the rain. Plus, I have another classic car in CA, a 1965 Ford Fairlane, so it's time to find the Chevy a proper home where she will be well taken care of and driven regularly. :) I originally bought her for $13,500 and began work on the car with a safety first approach. However beautiful she may be, when I first purchased her she wasn't a cruiser you would feel comfortable driving. Things are very different now after all of the modifications I've made, and hopefully you can enjoy her as much as I have! When I bought the car, it handled, stopped and drove pretty poorly. I upgraded a number things to "get her in line"... The front end has been entirely rebuilt with new parts from Chevys of the 40's. The gearbox/ steering column has been replaced witth a rebuilt unit. The front drum brakes and original master cylinder have been jettisoned in favor of an 11 inch disc brake kit with power disc brakes from C.C.P. (this car now stops on a dime and spits a nickel out of the grille.) The entire car has been re-wired with a 12 volt rebel wire kit (including the fuse block.) I had the gas tank removed and cleaned. The rear brakes were replaced (with the exception of the drums, which were able to be resurfaced and still have another resurfacing left in them.) Anyone that knows these cars inside and out also knows the passenger side tie rod end is made of unicorn horns and extremely expensive in the event you can actually find one. And generally, they are all worn out. To rectify this, the shop I used to do the work (Crushproof Custom Auto in Austin Texas) created an adjustable tie rod end for the passenger side. And for the record - ( 9 out of 10 of these cars have steering wheels that favor the right side due to the non adjustable stock tie rod end. Mine sits dead level!) I also had the boys at Crushproof install new shocks. I'd be happy to put you in touch with the boys who did the work if you have more questions. Things you want to know... This car is 99.9 percent rust free. The only (and I mean ONLY) rust in this car is in 1 of the floor supports near the rocker panel. It's placement looks like it way have been due to a drain hole being covered over with undercoating or something similar. It isn't effecting anything in it's immediate surroundings, so I chose to leave it alone and call it an undercarriage "beauty mark". The motor appears to have been out at some point. I don't know if it was to be re-painted or re-built. The car runs beautifully, but during the heat of the 110 (+) degree TX summer, had a tendency to vapor lock. (As do most humans, might I add ;) ... hence the aluminum foil on the fuel lines.) Crushproof recommends the fuel line be replaced with aluminum. A bigger fan on the radiator probably wouldn't hurt, either if you are going to be driving her in extreme heat. The car has a 3 on the tree. (that's a 3 speed standard, shifted on the steering column) Stuff that makes it that much more interesting: The paint on this car is fairly recent and is super classic - red & white. The interior is fabulous, red and white velvety material. Looks amazing! The only issues there are worn out door handles and a grouchy passenger side door. Easy / minor fixes. But honestly, that seat is better than my couch. The car has been "nosed and decked" - meaning the trim has been removed and smoothed over. The cover for the spare tire is in the trunk, simply because I didn't want anyone messing with it. It has been fully pinstriped. You can keep that, or paint over it. Completely up to you :) The continental kit is aftermarket, but fits very well. All of the chrome that isn't on the car is in the trunk, and in VERY good shape! Rims and tires are in "like-new" condition. There is an aftermarket stereo installed below the dash. Not the best sound quality I've heard, but hey .... it's a working stereo in a 1951 Chevy. No complaints there. :) And they didn't destroy the dash installing the unit either, so you could easily rip it out if you weren't down with the aesthetics. You will note the 2 tiny holes in the fender where the previous owner had installed a pair of chrome script "streetrod" badges. Those had to go. The holes were treaded to a dab or por-15 from behind, and a touch of the magic red testors on the front. Speedway still sells the streetrod badges should you decide to replace them. ;) All in all, you must know - I love this car. Named her "Nancy" after my super classy grandmother who passed away years ago. She is absolutely gorgeous, and as I mentioned, I'm really just interested in getting her a good home - with a garage, where she will be well taken care of and driven more often. That's all it would take to make this girl happy. - Jenny :)
